Tips and Tricks using Das Developer edition

This started as a sugestion

From time to time i will add some new tricks as well

Hope this will encourage others as well :playingball:

Here is how to do it,

In Developer mode :
Kombiinstrument -> Diagnose nach Werkangabe -> Steuergerate-Anpassungen ->
Steuergerate-Anpassungen (Variantencoderierung) -> Variantkodierung Werkeinstellungen ->

In the menu that shows , you scroll down untill you read the line : Tankinfo im Reichweitebild
enable this option
now you have tankinfo in the screen that otherwise only showed range

If you allso wanna adjust the way fuel consumtion is showed
you scroll a little more down untill you read the line : Verbrauchanzeige km
you can change it from L/100km into km/l

Scroll down and confirm Coding by pressingF3

if you watch your Instrument Cluster , you notice that scrolling through the menu , nothing changed .

For this , the "Kombiinstrument" needs a reboot.
to do this in Developer mode we go back by hitting F1 -> 3 times
then choose Ansteuerungen -> Gesamstliste aller Ansteuerungen ->
Scroll down untill you see the line : Steuergeraet Resetten (PowerON-Modus) (FN_Reset_SG_Power_ON)
Press F3 and confirm again with F3
Now you will see the "Kombiinstrument" reboots

Here is how to : clean ASSYST Plus Memory
All we need is DAS in Developer mode :devil:
In Developer mode : (tested version 07-2009)
Steuergerate (Control units) ->F3
Aufbau (Body) ->F3
ZGW (CGW) ->F3
Entwicklungen (Development data) ->F3
Steuergerate - Anpassungen (Control unit adaption) ->F3
Programmieren (Update) von Steuergeraten (Control module programming) ->F3
Steuergerat programmieren (Auswahl) (Program control unit (Selection)) ->F3

Now we have 2 options to flash the ZGW/CGW with, choose the correct one :)
Don't panic ! if you choose the wrong file , it terminates process and you can do it over again
Confirm Flash pop-up with Ja (Yes)
After that it says : "Das Steuergerate wurde erfolgreich programmiert"
-> "OK" it ask for a reset -> JA (Yes) ->
ECU Reset (FN_ECU_Reset) ->F3 again ->F3

Now you Completed full History wipe out :beer:

Make sure engine is running !!!

In Developer mode you need to go to Entwickelingsdaten - > ansteueringen -> Gesamstliste aller Ansteuerungen

to see how many times brake has been pressed there is a line that says: Bremsenzahler (DJ_GetBrLive)

then 1 line down there you see Bremsenzahler aktualisieren und Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen -> click it !
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

1 line down Bremsenzahler auf beliebigen Wert setzen (DJ_SetNBr) -> click it
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3


then scroll down untill you see the line's :

Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen (DJ_CalcLiveTime)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen und schreiben (DJ_BuildAndWriteF)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

Log out of SBC !!
log out of verhicle !!

let engine run at least 10 minutes or drive at least 10 minutes

If no coils are damaged , SBC fault code is not AKTUEL nomore ;)

In Developer mode :
Audio, Video, Navigation und Telematik ->F3
a screen might pop up with all kind of settings, ignore and press F2
New screen with ESD warning ->F3 COMAND /AUDIO -AUDIO 50 oder COMAND ->F3
Entwicklungsdaten ->F3
Steuergerate-Anpassungen ->F3 Steuergerate-Anpassungen (Variantencoderierung) ->F3
HU Parameter ->F3 scroll down to line: Driving speed is more than 0 kph and
Driving speed is more than 10 kph and BOTH enable them and ->F3 to confirm coding
Now you be able to watch DVD/TV when car is in motion

This procedure won't work for W204 W221 and newer models

Here is how to:
Add cruisecontrol / limiter to your Vito/Viano W639 it's configuration.
This should work for all W639 till AJ08

In Developer mode :(tested version 10-2008)

In engine control unit:
Entwicklungen (Development data) ->F3
Password : flexecu ->F3
Steuergerate - Anpassungen (Control unit adaption) ->F3
Steuergerate-Anpassungen (Variantencoderierung) ->F3
VCD_Transporter->F3
a Pop-up tells you : "Mindest eine Codiereinstellung ist ungultig" confirm -> OK

Here you will find the option settings
write down the line that is blue.
For example : NSG or NAG_Klima_Wasserstandschalter

Now we search for the string that contains the same options + Tempomat and Begrenzer
So that will look like : NSG or NAG_Tempomat_v-Begrenzer_Klima_Wasserstandschalter
Once you find it , click it and confirm with ->F3
"Soll die Codierung in Steuergerat ubertragen werden ?"->F3
JA or YES->F2 to proceed

Now we log out the engine ecu and go to the :
Instrument Cluster ( Kombi instrument) (Magnetti Marelli)

Steuergerate-Anpassungen (Variantencoderierung) ->F3
Variantencoderierung Algemeine Daten->F3
Scroll down untill you see "Limiter" set to Ja or Yes ->F3
F2 -> F1 -> F1
Ansteuerungen -> Gesamstliste aller Ansteuerungen ->
Scroll down untill you see the line : Steuergeraet Resetten (PowerON-Modus) (FN_Reset_SG_Power_ON)
Press F3 and confirm again with F3
Now you will see the "Kombiinstrument" reboots

Cruise control coding is added succesfully to your W639 now :cheer:

As for the cruisecontrol handle itself.
On the back of the EZS you notice there is place for 1 connector , this is where the cruise-contol handle will be plugged it.

DAS is an overkill, and a very expensive solution for you m8 if the only think you want to do is activating tv in motion .

If you read a little bit in the forum you will find all detailed information of what DAS is , and how to go on about it.

Maybe get a TV activator ??

I am still trying to find out how to view the crash record for cars that have been in accidents.
I am told its in the AB module, and you can read which airbags were deployed and what speed/time/date it has occured.

it is not need development data to enable ambient lights!
The coding you asking is in front SAM/Control unit ,..try to reprogram it!

You probably have to use normal DAS at first,..and if not satisfied,..then use development data!

Anyone know HOW to by DAS (W203 -05 C30 AMG)?

1. Take steering wheel with paddles to use by DAS Developer. Steering wheel is changed and paddles working in steering wheel module. Transmission wont understand it before coding. How to code it? SCN offline codeing is possible if I know what I haft to set there.

2. Set Vmax higher than 250kh/h

3. Enable TV in motion. I have asked one place in europe and them told that it is possible by ODB2 port (no need extra module witch I have now) but they will not tell me how to. My TV Module just sucks because it kills every can-bus signal between comand <-> other devices.

To my best knowledge that is what it is at this point. The only way is via a CAN bus filter and that as you feel by now kills the signal to other system components.

What else would this module do? It fools the COMAND to stand still. That's why you can play DVDs then. Think about it!

CAN bus is a ring. There are different CAN bus rings. CAN-A, CAN-B, CAN-C,... So all devices that use the same CAN bus as the COMAND will be crippled.

Ok. Or I think those devices cant just connect to comand And they are controlled by comand. But thats why I try to find other solution for that. Or I need to wire some on/off button from that module in ashtray and use it only when use DVB-T (for mp3 ofcourse)

and unlocked it this way with succes to copy the hdd.


the dvd in motion i havent tried but maybe you can do something with this site.

ok, i see they closed the mitshibushi forum. the program was there.

its a little time ago when i did that, but it works .

i think i have it here somewhere. i will look for it for you.
its a linux based image on cd.
you start up the labtop from that cd image. and it will find youre locked hdd in the labtop. choose to unlock and give in that code on the website from

taking things apart.


after that the hdd is unlocked and you can use it as second hdd in youre labtop or desktop.

its the same method as they use to unlock playstation 3 hdd.

my m8's got xentry das running on his ibm laptop and i'ts in English why then do we have german in the forum? the only time German language really comes up is when you just start
the program after that everything's in english language he's doing master resets and all sorts it's working exceptional because i've seen it in action my only regret is that i still cant get the star multiplexer interface and leads at a reasonable price can any one help in pointing me in the right direction?

here it is, burn the image on cd.

be sure that only the locked hdd is in youre labtop
boot up from cd.
choose option 3 from menu and choose to unlock -p
fill in the unlock code after the -p

if it is succesful then you can use the hdd as second drive under windows and make a copy with norton ghost or some programs like that.

p.s. maybe its better to start a new tread if you like to now more about the engineer menu etc. of an 204 or 212.
the 221 havent got an engineer menu as far as i know?

To be able to do such instruction you first need to unlock the ecu.
this should go with Steuergerat enriegeln (FN_SG_Entriegeln)
when your done adjusting code , you should lock the ecu again with ; Steuergerat verriegeln (FN_SG_Verriegeln)

Oke , as for a solution to do the DPF regeneration manual in Developer mode.

You can start the process with the line : Manuelle Partikelfilter Regeneration (FN_Manuelle_Partikelfilter_Regeneration)

To stop the procedure : Manuelle Partikelfilter Regeneration Routine stoppen (FN_Manuelle_Partikelfilter_Regeneration_stoppen)

In NO way do i support this procedure

On many CDI's the Dev menu is missing or the actuation shows 'not suported' and if you need to start the regeneration from normal menu it ask for a password. Ex; wdd169006 CDIA1.

There isn't "tank info" option in W204 mate. I was looking for that with DAS developer a lot of time ago.

But you are diagnosing a car that isn't part of Xentry but DAS. In this case even if you start from Xentry, it calls DAS and everything you see is "plain old DAS". The developer mode there is dependent on the DAS key, not the Xentry key.

No you didn't understand.

DAS is for the older cars, Xentry for the newer cars. It doesn't work with more cars just with newer cars.

If you run Xentry and you select a car that is not supported by Xentry, Xentry will conveniently open DAS up for you.

If you have a DAS Developer Kit key you will have Developer Key features available. DAS and Xentry are 2 different applications.

to see how many times brake has been pressed there is a line that says: Bremsenzahler (DJ_GetBrLive)

Do not worry. If before you had C249F everything is fine.
But if you have C2498 will not work
When you check DJ_GetBrLive it will be -1, and C2498 current and stored.

I think this is same like as you go in dyno mode screen. Try this:

1. Kilometres screen
2. Key position one click (no ignition)
3. push trip reset button 3 times

What else would this module do? It fools the COMAND to stand still. That's why you can play DVDs then. Think about it!

Haft to go back to this. Sorry. I think again my TV module wont work like it should. I think Normaly TV-free module kilss ONLY speed signal to Comand. If I cut out my can bus signals to comand it works just like i told before. Kill all can data between comand and other devices.

So anyone who want cheap DIY tv free module just connect switch between can bus signals to Comand. I think I will install little micro switch in my astray. It shut down comand when you open connection but you can start it again. Then you cluster and steering wheel wont find audio, phone, navi... But you are able to see TV ;)

Maybe it is a faulty gearshift lever module, which could have problem with ground. IMHO, repair isnt possible.

I'm afraid the US cars never had the SBC HOLD or STOP features. But even early European W211 models didn't have it. Perhaps the question was about a US car (all 2005 MY cars in ROW would have the feature). I think the question is still valid.

Date in IC is simple. It's in the Developer screen of the IC.

Window Auto Close doesn't work I thought to my best knowledge. You can only lower all 4 windows via the IR key by pointing the key towards the IR receiver on the driver side door.

To be able to do such instruction you first need to unlock the ecu.
this should go with Steuergerat enriegeln (FN_SG_Entriegeln)
when your done adjusting code , you should lock the ecu again with ; Steuergerat verriegeln (FN_SG_Verriegeln)

Where is the problem dude? Just go into AC menu and enable it. I have a similar setting enabled in my car whereas RECIRC turns on while driving below 30 km/h!

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to install used instrument cluster in W203, and change odometer using das developer.
The menu is there in developer menu, complete index of actuations.
I tried odo_reset and odo_adj but I get error saying controller refused meaning maybe i need authorisation or need to unlock IC.

Is this possible or is it possible to reset IC to virgin?

I know with the W211 the cluster cannot have more than 250 km on it in order to change it. There used to be a video on the Internet that shows how how to do it on a W210.

DAS/Xentry developer editions are the ones used in the MB factory. They contain a lot more of coding/programming choices and should be used with great care. Wrong doing can ruin your car !!
BTW those version are not found in any official MB Dealer.

It seems these options require some security access b4 the module allows them, as when i tried it kept saying something like ecu rejected request. There is also an option to lock ecu, cuz i pressed this one thinking i could also unlock it, but now ecu rejects a few actuations, namely get security seed key request which now doesnt work. When it worked it gave me something like CCA7, next time i tried it was CCAD, then there is an option to enter seed key, but this option requests 4 different keys, so i have had no luck here, as I have no experience with this.

Anyone have experience with these developer actuations for Inst. cluster for w203?

I think there are reasons behind why one cannot simply swap a cluster and why all these functions are behind the developer kit mode which is usually only used by engineers and designers/developers in the labs and factories of MB.

About developer mode, there is nothing to be scared of here, just make sure you either understand a bit of german or have a german dictionary nearby.
The menus in dev mode is user friendly enough not to make uncorrectable mistakes easily. also it gives you additional info on actual values, actuations, fault codes which dont harm anything. however be careful with adaptations, recoding and tests.I am not advising anyone to go messing about there unnecessariily, but if the job requires it to fix the problem, then why not.

Developer mode is simply there to do additional functions that may not be covered under warranty, legal restrictions, country restrictions etc. That is why merc dealers don't allow inexperienced techs to use this mode. But for personsl use, its just like any other diagnostic tool - AT YOUR OWN RISK.

oh, by the way, the reason for the cluster swap was a faulty lcd display for odometer, so swapping the lcd bit should do the trick i think.

Probably you'll need programming SBC. For that, you must use DAS and a special tool kit. You can see a video from SDMedia 07-08/2010--> open Passenger Cars---> Model 211---> Sensotronic Brake Control and finally---> Programming of SBC control unit.

I'm German so I can tell you that you might found the correct spot. "Wischerfunktionalit?t" means Wiper functionality at a 1:1 translation.

Ok, only legal work!
Host vihicle replace TPMS (not new) and He wants to restore mileage. To ather service will not understand when host of car had problem whith tires. Its legal!

You need a legit account with MB for SCN coding. Cheap China clones won't do the trick! And if you would have a legit SDS and account with MB, you would know how to do SCN coding!

currently this is set to 90kph the vehicle was once a taxi and wont allow a higher value to be set just a lower value. I need it to be reset to 112kph

Good choice! I give you credit to admit your still lacking knowledge! Play in sim first then move on to work on a real car.

What he told you is that there you can increase the Vmax of the vehicle up to 250 km/h! At least that is the max on W211.

If one wants the 300 km/h as Vmax one needs to go through a dealership and they have to order a certain code that comes either from MB or from AMG to set the new max speed. This takes several weeks to my best knowledge though!

There is only one clock in the IC. The whole panel is called IC. Speedometer and RPM gauge is in there, too.

Hello.

I am having problems with an w211, and i cannot erase some AB errors.
It came first with error for seat occupancy - i tried to disable it via dev mode but the guide has nothing to do with my das 9.2010 dev menu.
And the errors that came up and cannot be deleted are for rear seat belts - 9263 and 9283.
I really can not erase this errors and it turns CAL error 530 !

Any help or idea please?

Which cable? All connectors are yellow from seat occupancy.

And if the air bag control unit is faulty, can i reset it? can i recode it?
I want to tell you that all faults that i get are for rear airbags and for seat occupancy.

I also saw the above pic and know that in DAS we can see the oil temp, but that beeing a E63AMG cluster could that be different of a normal w211/w209 cluster?

I'm specially interested in activate the oil temp feature in the IC if possible and if anyone know how to do it?

PS: changing VMAX on non AMG cars is possible or only by chiptuning?

You can increase Vmax up to 250 km/h as far as I know. If you want to go to 300+ km/h you will need to talk to your dealership. They have to order a file or a code from MB which takes a few days/weeks to receive. Then they can change Vmax to the top. AMG does it in-house by using a tool called "Candie" which runs in the 5k Euro range for non AMG people :)

As far as I know you cannot enable the oil temp display on the standard W211 cluster. It has to be the CLS or AMG cluster.

Problem solved:

WRONG!!! This is the Cluster. Your engine management will still not allow you to drive faster. With SDS in developer mode you can only go as high as 250 km/h under the AMG ME!

Don't believe me? Let me know and I'll upload the screenshot. You need other tools or the official file that will be generated by AMG for your car and sent to your dealership. In Germany they go as far as that you have to take a safety class before they even release this file to your dealership.

Date in IC is simple. It's in the Developer screen of the IC.

Window Auto Close doesn't work I thought to my best knowledge. You can only lower all 4 windows via the IR key by pointing the key towards the IR receiver on the driver side door.

a screen might pop up with all kind of settings, ignore and press F2
New screen with ESD warning ->F3 COMAND /AUDIO -AUDIO 50 oder COMAND ->F3
Entwicklungsdaten ->F3
Steuergerate-Anpassungen ->F3 Steuergerate-Anpassungen (Variantencoderierung) ->F3
HU Parameter ->F3 scroll down to line: Driving speed is more than 0 kph and
Driving speed is more than 10 kph and BOTH enable them and ->F3 to confirm coding
Now you be able to watch DVD/TV when car is in motion
Does any one knows if this is possible with the last firmware version for the ntg1 ?
