If it?s Magneti Marelli T/B get the exact same T/B from the same engine (if you have engine B5244T buy one from B5244T) etc. Then the software will be correct for your car. A T/B with yellow sticker will be a replacement T/B and will have ?newer? software. To get the very latest software the T/B will have to be flashed. New T/B from Volvo will come blank and will not work until flashed.
Hope this makes sense?

My engine is B6284T turbo
and I was thinking to take ETM from
engine B6294S witch is not turbo
so that's mean it will not run?
Im kind of worry if dealer will do the set up on a used ETM
any Idea?

Will not run as plug and play. The new software would need to be downloaded via VIDA. However with the problems these experienced your highly likely to waste money on the junk yard part if your paying someone to program. Buy the same used replacement item or buy new would be my suggestion.

So you have already replaced it. If it seems ok, leave it!
A reload can be done and there is a possibility an upgrade could be performed. Sometimes a CEM reload will have to be done to match the ETM to the car, and to match records on Volvo?s server.
1: ETM reload first, if this works ETM upgrade next.
2: If ETM reload fails, do CEM reload to match nodes with Volvo, then ETM reload and try ETM upgrade.
I had to do this on a new T/B that was installed on a different car. (Technically Used)
So I assume this would work on a used one?
Getting someone to do all this is expensive. If it runs leave it.
If this helps use the thanks button.

You will need VIDA Software and a subscription from Volvo to do downloads.
https://www.volvotechinfo.com/index.cfm?event=info.vida.thisIsVida
The problem is you will need DiCE or J2534 Pass-Thru. I have never used a generic Pass-Thru. I have been told you are very limited on what you can do with a generic Pass-thru especially on 1999-2001, only ECM and TCM not sure about CEM. Some of this may have changed Volvo is very vague on it.
Reload:
Original software is loaded into node that was in car previously. Complete Flash
Upgrade:
Software is compared to Volvo records, if there is a newer version, it is downloaded into node. Partial Flash or Complete Flash
CEM: the main module holds info from all nodes.
Sometimes it?s hard to get a different ?used node? to match the Volvo server, the reload then fails. Reloading the CEM will update all the nodes info to Volvo so the next download everything will match. It is an old trick I did years ago. You may not have to do it any more. Most conflicts with nodes are fixed during downloads with VIDA, if something does not match Volvo automatically matches them and prepares a new download.
You might be able to try the upgrade first to the ETM, but it has never worked for me on a different node to the car.
Hope this helps!
