Need help with W221 Odometer

Hello,

I haven't done Benz since the new 2007 came out. I trying to get into now and I have a customer who has 2008 S550 (W221). I know I will need a CAN Blocker to install on the EZS and i will need to fix dash.

1.) What chip is the cluster of w221?
2.) Is there any other location i need to worry about?
3.) To reset Benz Service, I read I need BENZ STAR System, is there a something else I can use (Cheap) or does it HAVE to be BENZ STAR and will china CLONE work for this. (I will only use to reset the service for odometer use.).

If you havent got star then dont do this car !

Let me try to help you:

1.) I don't know
2.) Yes - many locations: EZS, CGW, Dash, Parking Brake and so on. Check the attached PDF
3.) Yes, you should use STAR, or DP3, or AVDI Abritus Mercedes. I am not sure which one will be cheapest for you.

Star clone from good supplier will work.

Its no use saying DP3................you will still need Star [developer ] to do any sort of decent job on Merc, either assyst or assyst plus.

I dont know what the post about DP3 via obd was referring to, but suggest Star is essential to do job .

i think DP3 flash dashboard so no nice job, km is tracable

in this dash you found 24C08, you can read/write it via back dash

you can made it ( without dash ) with star dev mod
and you must use bloker inside EZS

to remove EZS isn't simple ( lot of work )

brake parking isn't original km, just save km when you forget brake driving car, no more

I assume you mean can you virginise the instrument cluster with star?

You can put a virgin dataset in the cluster and initialise with star

they change dash, ezs,assyst all thru obd

Are you sure that enigma could perform this through OBD? I don't think so as we still need the NEC Pro Key attached to the EZS and remove the dash and look for the right chip to solder the wire to. I have an enigma but the tech support told me that there is no way we can do it through OBD. Unfortunately, I removed the dash and could not locate the 24C08 eeprom. Can someone help me?

Isnt it usualy like that, that all othe controlunits like break and ecu and so on just mirror from Tacho .. and if make Tacho then after some days those controlunits get new data and will have also new km by themself?

I calles to arbitus 72 and they told me that it also does havanna and amazonas... but maybe the guy did not understand me right.. so i wrote email..

Artjom,
The Abritus guy is not telling you the truth. If he can do the W221 EZS diagnostically, then he should be able to simulate all that on the bench, therefore program your EZS right there. Ask him if he could program an EZS that you want to send him and see his answer...if he ever answers you. He reflashes the gateway. MB commander as well as DP3 reads and saves eeprom/flash memories, modifies them and reloads them back to the control unit. And you get the same result as a blocker. But in case the dealer reflashes the gateway your customer is in big trouble (possibly you as well) because all the old KM value will jump back. Why would a MB tech do that? Very simple: chances are they will see the fault "Component N93 (CGW) is defective: fault current and stored". You can clear is but it will come back again after couple of starts. The blocker solution seems to be a better and safer solution.
And also just a little correction: there's no W221 that came with 9S12 MCUs. They all have those Amazonas, etc type CPUs. W164 type vehicles were produced until 9/2006 or 10/2006 with 9S12 ones but not W221.

1. You're confusing genuine avdi with cloony fvdi .
2. What did you expect from a fake tool ?

I can confirm, that not original AVDI = SVCI will (in my case) "destroy" CGW=ZGW. Now I bought the same CGW, pushed EEPROM from my old original CGW to the bought one, every system now works like before, but have Million km :-) Exactly 999.999 at instrument cluster (dashboard) and stored in EZS. The value read by DigiProg3 from instrument cluster i 240+-t km, but its clear it takes the biggest value and that is in EZS. So now seeking for solution how to change EZS or change visible km on dashboard.

ps.the car is mine and don´t want to sell it. When selling it the buyer will recieve full history what hapened :-)
