unless anybody knows different, you cannot flash any ECU nowadays using vas-pc, without having an online connection

maybe earlier versions are capable but for sure with v18 it isnt possible, ive tried using VW flash disc and you have to log on via online connection

unless im doing ot wrong?

anybody know a different solution?

Insert Flash CD
open Selfdiagnostic, (only in Selfdiagnostic available)
open ECU
Soft is automtical checking if newer version on CD
if it is so, there is an button 019 Programming

Note: Some Ecu's needs after flashing other procedures like coding or adaption, this must be done manually by user so be careful if you don't know what you do!!

Remember: You can also copy files from CD to x:\SIDIS\home\datflash then no CD needing.

have v18 on laptop working great does all functions ,if i want to reflash it downloads info from car then wants to connect to online server which i dont have access to

I was told you must run flash disc from same drive VAS was installed, so so if you unpacked and installed from C:/ you must have flash files on c:/, if you installed using drive e:/ then you must load/mount flash disc to drive e:/

Also option 019 will only show if an update is available otherwise no 019 option will be displayed

The Flash disk is for European Volkswagon only. North American Flash disks (when they were available) came as per car like one disk for jetta's and so on

I think before programming VAS check actual version of SW and if there is SGO file with update for current SW it can be updated. If there i no more "fresh" SW for the one you have - update is impossible.

On each flash disc there is a "Label" file, the settings in this file determines the behaviour of VASPC with regards to the flash disc.When you copy the "datflash" folder across to "C:\SIDIS\home" the label file from that directory is used instead of the one on the flash disc since it is not copied across and therefore option 19 appears if the flash file is present and newer than the module you are trying to flash.

Also another parameter in ediabas.ini located in "C:\SIDIS\home\DBaseSys2\EDIABAS\Bin" determines whether option 19 will appear.

The default value of this setting is 0 change it too 100 as shown above.I have flashed the radio on a golf5, with this option set too 100, option 19 appears for the same flash file.

On the same Golf5, option 19 does not appear for the ECU regardless wether the flash files are located locally or the value of the ediabas setting.Instead option "018.10 - Update Programming" appears for the ECU when using VAS5163 software

There are only a hand full of .STT files compared to .SGO in the flash folder, not all flash files are listed in the contents of these .STT files.Does this mean that the files not listed will not get option 19 appearing if the module contains older firmware and there is no listing in the .STT even though a newer flash files exists in the flash directory? Then why bother putting those SGO file there in the first place?

I believe the .sst is another preset condition it looks for, if the .sst contains the listing of the flash files but the revision of the older file listed does not match the one in the module then it will not get flashed.

The same problem with the gateway.1K0907530H is in the module and 1K0907530K is the flash file, but yet no option 19.Even ross-tech claim it can be flashed.

Today i have try to flash a A4 BPW 140PS 03L906016FQ_9382.

I have in my Flash DVD the newer file BPW 140PS 03L906016FQ_9797, but function 19 does not come.

I have write in the mot1.stt file this

03G906016FQ ; 9382 ; 03G906016FQ ; 03G906016FQ_9797.sgo
03G906016FQ ; 03G906016FQ_9797.sgo

and then i have 19 update programming, and update works.

Which version Audi Flash disc do you have?

Version 12.10 does not contain any .stt files, it has both versions of flash for that ecu 9382 & 9797, which would suggest to me that .sst file is there as a selector when there is more than one flash revision for the same module.But the original 12.10 does not contain ant .stt files

If you used the Audi flash disc or copied only the audi flash files locally, you would not get option 19?
Then what is the point of having the flash files present without the .stt files if it relies on those files as to whether option 19 appears?They cannot expect the average person to know this, VW would be getting phone calls from dealers everyday regrading option 19 not appearing.There has to be more to this.

With the Golf5, the ECU has 06F906056EK_9153 in it and the flash file is 06F906056EK_9607.It also has the setting below in the mot.stt

06F906056EK; 9150; 06F906056EK; 06F906056EK_9607.sgo;
06F906056EK; 06F906056EK_9607.sgo

I do not get option 19, only option "
018.10 - Update Programming" appears with VAS5163.If i delete the mot file/setting that option does not comes up.Even if i change 9150 to 9153 in the mot file to match the module firmware, 19 does not appear

OH, where do you buy your VAS 5054A? from China clone? if China clone, that's impossible to update software ECM from audi skoda seat and vw. You have to get another tool.

All done! I have managed to flash the gateway on a golf V.I don't get option 19, but i get option 18.10.I have worked out all the names of the corresponding .stt files that need to be present for every module catagory even for ones that are not currently listed.

Common sense tells me that why would VW bother putting flash files on a flash disc that would never produce option 19 if the corresponding .stt file with the module reference is not present.A dealer would never get the flash option under these conditions so maybe there is a setting to overide this check

I don't believe you can brick the module you are trying to flash with an incorrect flash file, this will give you option 19 but it checks to see if the flash file is correct for the module regardless whether you try to fool it by renaming the flash file from another module to the same name.

VASPC over ODIS any day! The rubbish there producing now with these enormous files sizes of auto Dealer software is an absolute joke

Can I use a J2534 pass through device or must it be a VAS505x?
Can VAS-PC downgrade flash files and flash modified files?

I am not being facetious, I really don't know. Just looking for a flasher to work my transmission. Ecu would be nice too.

Friends, to what such complexity. I use to record ODIS engineering updates. Very simply. And I can record SGO files from other car models. Thereby optimizing or correcting the operation of certain electronic components. For example, on the Passat B6 there was a problem with the electric power steering, the power transistor burned out on one of the control phases. Replacing the electric power steering is expensive. Decided to forcibly firmware from Skoda RS.

Some flash files (k-Line programming) not work properly in ODIS. I test Automatic Transmission VW T5 2007 control unit flashing and ODIS, VAG Can Pro, Abrites failed update. But VAS PC v19 with prepared .stt files programing without problems.

A fully unlocked dealer software will give you more options than any bullshit overpriced aftermarket product like abrites would give you. These options exist so dealers have the ability to try things when they encounter problems instructed by the engineers at head office.In the case of VAG, dealers are not allowed to use Odis E and Odis itself like MB are becoming oversized and resource hungry putting tremendous burden on hardware which is not really required. The diagnostic data in most dealer software is becoming standardized and can be imported in software like softing DTS which is the backbone for VAG and MB.The VAS5054 (edic blue) is a PDU-API which is another standard amongst interfaces and with the j2534 wrapper the options become endless.

Using imported dealer data from the dealer software rather than trying using the multiple dealer software on one machine or each on multipe machines is becioming easier and more feasable as time goes on
