VAS5163 and DTS v7

Morning everyone!

Myself and disv55 are looking for some help from the Volkswagen guys, with VAS5163 and DTS v7 by Softing.

DTS-Monaco needs a license file (license.bin)

VAS5163 needs a license and is also missing the English dynamic link library:

I don't know much about it myself, but Qrius tells me that it is the software that is used in VAG Group factories (I'm interested in it, because it uses Softing's Ediabas, the same as BMW INPA, etc.) I've found the Resource_en-US.dll file this morning (haven't checked it yet), so we're making some progress!

1 of them: On-Line "Special" connection via ErWin Server for "Checking" License & S/N from your VAS System!!! :evil:

If you use the Resource_en-GB.dll from VASPC V18 from folder C:\SIDIS\home\VASEGD2\bin and rename it to Resource_en-US.dll it is the same version so you will not get version error message.But then you need en-US.BTF & the en-US folder which resides in the img folder. you can get these from previous english version of vas5163 which i got from a 2007 version.
The program then comes up in English, but are you then going to risk using it on car with the manner in which it is running???

Someone once told me, that it is not worth the risk of using a cloned interface on diagnosing an 80,000 dollar car.But if i had a choice i would rather use a clone interface with original software rather than an original interface with half baked butchered software in which the manner it has been operating under is by swapping files from different versions.

The fact that the DLL from vaspc is of the same version, means that they already have released the latest version of vas5163 in english.

It is only a manner of someone posting it

No solution until now...
In the linked M*NACO.EXE , the L*cense check is bypassed, so M*NACO itself is working.
But for V*S5163 there is a separate Frontend with a file named V*SEGD.EXE, which has included the same check. So not working...
PMed impactops several times, but got no response at all :-(

The Software check the Serial number from the DEvice 5054 and check the lincens in the software. So the Device is not in the lincens list and can not start. The Software is working but you have not function to make diagnostic or other. VAS 5163 is developed software for VW Audi and have the same base of original software. Softing developed software for VW Audi Group.

I do not have an interface and therefore i cannot modify the software to get it to work.There is no point in asking me to make mods so people can try it cause that won't work either.If i had an interface this would be working already, but not just with the VW group of vehicles, the interface would be working with a whole bunch of other automotive software with all the licensing checks removed from the driver.Softing also supply the software to be able to write custom API's for the interface which comes with Vaspc.

VAS5163 is not only for VW, it is used on other vehicles aswell.On the softing website there is a picture of an engineer standing on the production line floor near diagnostic equipment, they are not VW's he is next too
The pictures below were found in the monaco file which demonstrates it is not only used on the VW group of vehicles

All softing software looks at the license.bin file to see wether the application is registered with the desired interface.The License.bin must contain the serial number of the interface to be used and the applications it is allowed to use.Since the monico software does not require the interface then the check was simple to remove.But with VAS5163 main program, the presence of the interface is detected first before it see's whether the license is valid.Since i do not have an interface it will never get to the license check.

There is more behind than only the SN. The interface also contains an individual feature key which is checked also against the license.bin.
I was able to mod the driver to report a SN which is contained in the license.bin. But this alone was not sufficient.

The serial number is the only thing needed in order to make "license.bin"

Somebody in one of the "Eastern Europe" country has the ability to make this file.

All I did is I e-mailed them the serial # and I received license.bin to activate the software.

I will try and remember the source....

They are the same unit.. If needed you can modify ediabas defination file to recognize 5054a

I don't believe this is anything new, if you have VASPC V18 installed there is a developer API Application which requires a valid license to install located in C:\SIDIS\home\DBaseSys2\DTS7\Setup\APIDeveloperKit
With this you can adapt a softing interface for any application

Does anybody have any tips (or know how) to correctly import data from VAS-PC discs, into VAS 5163? I'm about to start trying again tonight...

Correction: Can't import data, due to no valid licence. Silly mistake on my part... lol

There is no need to import data from VASPC or Brand disc's to 5163 or even install VAS5163, all this can be accessed from VASPC & DTS7.Parts of vas5163 are installed when you install VASPC but it is configured to only be accessed through VASPC thats why when you execute VASEGD.exe from C:\SIDIS\home\VASEGD2\bin nothing appears to happen.When you install the brand discs, DTS Monaco is configured to access any projects that may come with any brand disc that is installed.Also with DTS configurator you can use any j2534 interface as a D-PDU through the softing API for CAN only.

As FAL has discovered all this requires licensing.

The version that is displayed in the pics is the latest i believe.I don't have VS5163 of that version standalone.
Since it is part of VASPC it is not really required.

You can forget your projects mate, that monoco file was modded before i had the interface.Only the first check is removed.What should of happened is people should of pointed that out but no one bothered to test it.So even if you had the projects it would not work with that monoco file.

Before you can do anything you need a License, the Monoco file i posted previously won't work as i have explained.But u need all the DTS7 programs running to be able to implement ODX files from different Vendors.

Then you have one tool that does it all.
