Huawei E5830, E5832 & E5838 Free Unlock

This is a bit lengthy but it should produce your E5830, E5832 or E5838 unlock code for free!

Always REMOVE the SIM card before doing the read or you may get an corrupt file!

Instructions:

Download this version of QMAT.

Digital Kaos - Downloads - QMAT (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/qmat-1730/)

Select the Application port of the E583x. Check in Windows Device Manager if unsure.

To test if you got the right port, send the "00" version command.

You should see something like this:

Then select: Read EFS and flag "Alternative Method".

Click "Let's go".

The resultant file contains both Binary and ASCII characters.

You will need to search for this for your 8 digit unlock code. There will be two codes in the file one is for removing the SIM lock and the other removes the Mi-Fi lock.

You can use Notepad to search the file, its crude but you should find the code in a few minutes. I have tried a program called ExtractText:

Windows 95+ programs (http://tp.lc.ehu.es/jma/win95.html)

The results are hit and miss with this program, sometimes the code is on the last line sometimes it is at the top of the list! However, it might give you a good idea of what you're looking for! To cut down on unnecessary searching using Extract Text go to Options and then Text Options and set the parameters to: Minimum Character 7 and maximum characters 8 plus you should have only Numbers selected:

One thing to keep in mind, the unlock code will appear only once so you can ignore repeated codes. This should narrow the search down somewhat!

Do remember that you have 10 attempts to enter the correct code so do take a little time to chose the code!

It's extremely unlikely to be 11111111 so you have the wrong code!

Once you have about five genuine posts, you should be able to upload a file!

now I have different problem. When I'm trying to read ESF, just after typing name of file and pressing Save, QMAT crashes. I tried three different cmputers with Win7 and Win764, but no result. Newer version of Qmat ? RevSkills ? works, but can't connect to modem. Any good idea about it?

You'll need to flash generic firmware to it or use it via USB. The web interface is often disabled on branded devices!

Be aware that this will almost certainly void your warranty!

Retrace your steps it should be around 700K or so!!

The information is of no use as calculators do not work!

I suggest that you try on another PC ideally with Windows XP 32bit running!

Ensure all modem dashboard software is closed down and re-run the procedure.

We have successfully unlocked quite a few E5832S, I we know it works!

This probably applies to both:

1. Ensure that you plugged the device into a USB port and that it fully installed itself!
2. Reboot PC.
3. Run Dashboard and check device is found.
4. Close Dashboard software FULLY - Check in system tray that it has!!
5. Now follow procedure step by step.

Note for Globe devices, they are almost impossible to unlock as the lock code counter is shipped as 10/10 used so, even if you get the correct code it is impossible to enter it to the device!!

Shut down all other Dashboard software and check in Windows Task Manager that nothing is still running!

Had a few problems first when I copied setting for QMAT from your screendump but found in the text that I had to flag Alternative Method. After that I got the file.

Found three different 8digit codes in my file. Decided to use the one that I found close to the text profile7 and worked !!

Uninstall all Dashboard software, reboot, install Mobile Partner Wi-Fi generic version again, reboot and then try the modem again! Having both installed at the same time will cause issues!!

The E585 is not compatible with E58xx devices!

Most Globe modems have been doctored and can not be unlocked! I suggest doing some research on Google for your particular modem...

The firmware has been specially altered on many Globe modems to stop unlocking! One particular Globe modem has it's unlock attempts set to 10/10 so even with the correct code you can't enter it!

The E1550 from Globe can not even be flashed!

Any way, try DC Files (http://www.dc-files.com) and see what's there!

I think you haven't followed the procedure correctly!

Your log file should be around 720 to 760K in size!

Try again with the SIM card removed!

If you give someone the wrong code and they have used up 9 of their unlock tries already, then your wrong code will make their modem impossible to unlock!

Some unscrupulous networks set the tries counter at zero when the device is manufactured! This stops users from ever being able to unlock their modem!! For this there is no fix as far as I am aware!!

Read EFS OK but can't find code. Would appreciate help but can't seem to attach the zip of my file (posting this via POST REPLY but no MANAGE ATTACHMENTS button present - is it 'cause I'm new?).


Try again as lagerland says. Sorry, I don't download the files from places like Hotfile and other sharing sites as they take forever and I get miffed with the popup's etc!

Your file is twice the size that it should be!!

The usual size if between 700 and 780KB.

Re-read the instructions and remove the SIM card, then try again!!

Windows XP is advised and certainly never Vista.

Already read the instructions again after saw that file size was large (bearing in mind your previous comments re this in thread) but no SIM card present and ran on XP so not sure where to go. Could some other software be interfering?

Just went through the procedure again from scratch on my laptop - also running XP - and the results of the EFS read are still 1592 kb (and apparently codeless).
Any ideas?

PS tried doing with SIM card (Tmobile not 3) in situ and the file became 1602Kb

It's highly unlikely you'll get a valid code from that size of file...

The SIM must be removed from the device...

Remember to ensure that you check the 'Alternative Method' box before reading EFS.

without the SIM card 1592Kb, with a T-mobile SIM 1602Kb either of which is too big according to your earlier notes. I have checked 'Alternative method' too. I did it exactly as per the instructions - even did the 00 send to check comms - and the file I get is 1592Kb.

Went to give this a go and found that there are zero unlock tries left which is annoying. The modem is new to me (but not new) so I guess previous owner must have had some failed attempts. I did find a program that claimed to reset the unlock tries but when I ran it the 'unlock reset' button was absent so I guess I'm stuck.

Some networks set their unlock tries counter to 10/10 from new! Pretty disgusting but many networks operate in a disgusting manner any way!

You can try flashing new firmware, in some cases this does reset the code tries counter!

I try never to guess codes, which is why I wouldn't even attempt to offer you a code from the wrong size file. I have looked through your EFS twice and only one code is even slightly close BUT it's in the wrong area of the file!

If you want to try flashing new firmware let me know the exact model and I'll give you a link to the appropriate file.

When you say exact model does that mean you need something other than E5830 or is that sufficient?
