Renault Scenic II steering lock problem

Hello!

I have Renault Scenic 1.9dCi, make year 2004 ... non-starter. Renault Clip can't diagnose steering lock, while UCH has stored something like: DF002 (DEF.1) Steering lock - internal electronic failure.

Steering isn't locked, but you still can't start the car (there is a message about this failure on dashboard).

Does anyone know what should be the problem? Should I virginize the steering lock ECU and try to program it with Clip and see if it works, or is there some hardware problem? Thanks!

Hi,
the lock is probably faulty.
Even when everything is ok clip can't diagnose steering lock, this is normal.

Steering lock autprograms, just put new 24cxx in lock

And by "faulty" you mean what? Software fault or hardware fault? Thanks!

OK, I managed to remove steering lock unit (the T30 torx bolt was actually pretty untightened). I dismantled it and found 24c04. I cannot see any visual damage inside, so I will first try to virginise the unit.

However, I have 2 problems:

1) While I was dismantling, a piece of plastic and a spring fell out. Can anyone help me found their location (see picture)?

2) I accidently turned the motor and now the lock is actually locked and I cannot bring it in unlocked position. Help please! Thanks!

Thanks, I already did and found the thread, but I can't find the solution. :S I just cannot release the lock ... I don't have idea what to do.

There is a spring and a pin you must remove .
MOst possible the small pin is still stuck inside .
Remove and throw away if you want .
Then all will be solved ...

Yup, managed to solve it ... I always tought the pin is behind black plastic which jumps out when you take apart the cover ... wrong ... it is behind white plastic near the lock itself.

After erasing EEPROM and putting things together, still no joy. When I first connected the lock I did not put top cover on it, so the "anti-tamper mechanism" activated and the motor almost popped out when I put on the ignition. I then removed the metal pin of the anti-tamper mech and tried reconnecting it with all covers on it, but this time even worse ... the motor does not move a bit. Any suggestions?

Just get a second hand unit

OK, but mine is with plastic housing, part number 8200033233, while on eBay there are mostly the ones with metal housing, part number 8200110033, like this one:

Found second hand unit from Megane (same product number - 8200033233), opened, programmed 24c04 with FF's, put everything together and we have another runner!

Can you be a bit more specific?
did you read with clip what does the clip tell you?
Is your card working?
