I tested J2534Toolbox today. It works with any J2534 device, but it is necessary make small changes in windows registers.
If you have J2534 from other company, selection of J2534 devices will be empty.
You have to modify windows registers, that your device is CarDaq and then you can select this device and it works.
Insert into register:

Yes! Yes!! Ye!!! First I will like to thank every contributor to this thread and all members of the best forum DK. Now I can tell you that J2534 Tool box can work with any J2534 Pass thru device, I have just confirmed it with 3 different passthru devices including a china cheap device, It works perfectly and I have just tested it on a Jeep Libery 2009 to edit the VIN. all you need to do is to edit the ConfigApplication and FunctionLibrary Values in the registry and replace them with the path to your device installation. you can use the illustration posted by Xbobcz earlier, Though I haven't tested with AVDI but now am sure it will work %100. I guess that brings us to the solution to this thread. if you have any problems with getting yours to work, please post it here and we shall be glad to help you.

i have the JLR mongoose,i donk know the JLR/IDS software version to use...i am going to try it on V124 but i read at some other forums that v123.07 is the better or you find a way to get v126 registered and use the mongoose on it. However v126 links are dead except v127(new links)....Anyone to help?

Anyone get J2534 Toolbox to work with Hotwire as a pass-thru? It's makin me nutz tryin'. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, There is a FunctionLibrary but ConfigApplication has no value in registry. No mater what I modify, J2534 Toolbox, both old and new versions gives me J2534 driver error message.

Used it with SPX MVCI worked like a charm. Needed to replace a PCM in a Dodge Neon with used and could not write the VIN because it already had a valid VIN. The Toolbox software includes a VIN wipe tool and SKIM reset tool. Thanks for the tip, my customer was very happy. :bounce:

Hi, i have toyota mongoose drewtech (oem) and it work well with j2534 toolbox, just choose interface when open program and done,mongoose not support all non can vehicule like chrysler 2000 to 2007 non can,i try for skim reset in pcm for intrepid without skim module on steering column and pcm come of other car with skim in pcm when i try to connect with pcm error protocole occured, the best it was mongoose chrysler but i not have, or cardaq+,snapon passthru pro or bosch j2534 made by drewtech,bye.

Have a China Mini-VCI firmware version 2.0.4 and wondered if I could get this to work with J2534 Toolbox 2. At first was having a hell of a time getting the registry to edit but realized I was on 64bit and the entry to edit is in wow6432node. Then I installed the mongoose driver and it showed up but wasn't doing anything with the MINI-VCI yet. After reading around I found you have to get the MINI-VCI msi driver and extract the installer. It will have a file called MVCI32.dll and this is the file you point to for the registry entry 'Functionlibrary' and then to the firmware update tool for 'ConfigApplication'.

Now my Mini-VCI cable's led is blinking when I try to pull Crysler Vin under Read Part number! Also it blinks in different patterns for Ford Part Number read. Don't have a dodge here but will try at work tomorrow on my buddies Ram, if he lets me. If that works I'll see if the good stuff, SKIM Reset and ECU reset work on something in a junk yard. I'll be very surprised if it works but worth a shot.


Edit: Someone else apparently got it working with this method of editing the registry as well.

Does anybody know how to get this working with either a ford VCM2 or if it will work with one of the FVDI V2018 as all I get is a blank drop down box when I open it up.

Below is what my registry entries look like and help is greatly appreciated especially if I can get it to work with the FVDI V2018 but I don't think thats a passthru device if I am correct.

Sorry for the late reply mate, but the code you send does not work for J2534 Toolbox (in order to have tactrix working)...
I think it might be because of the version, sind i'm trying to use J2534 toolbox 3.
Need to see if i can find version 2 that seems to work better (or at least doesnt ask for "login credentials. Already tried with my tactrix serial, and still no work)...

Does anyone have Toolbox 2 complete version that can share? i need to try to make this work but i need version 2. (version 3 seems to have some differences and doesn´t work for me)

Good day everyone.
I have this allscanner vxdiag j2534 interface: https://www.vxdiagshop.com/wholesale/vxdiag-vcx-nano-for-ford-mazda-2-in-1.html.
I want to use it with J2534 toolbox software for Chrysler Vehicles. But I only find J2534 ToolBox3 in drewtech website. But this j2534 toolbox3 can't work with chinese made j2534 even if you modify Windows registry correctly.
So I download need a link(Mega, Media fire ect) for old version J2534 TOOLBOX 1 and the Driver link also.
I will greatly appreciate anyone's help.

For what it may be worth... I found an old version on informer.com, listed as v1.3, that upon installing, the splash screen shows 'J2534Toolbox2' and the help > About shows 1.3.4.0, and on a fresh install of Windows 7 with no updates, seems to work as expected with the required reg entries for your hardware of choice. In my case, a MDI2. On a patched version of Windows 7, I got errors indicating 'the app was unable to load a required virtual machine component', which seem to possibly be related to some Windows updates. I have at least some measure of confidence that the file is legit as the current version (apparently) downloaded from informer.com was a hash match to the one I downloaded from drewtech directly. Nonetheless, I installed it on an air gapped machine just in case.

did i do this right? i downloaded the Cardaq plus drivers. i opened the reg files, and copied the cardaq plus info into the sm2 reg file. when i open tool box with my sm2 plugged in, it asked for a serial number



i tried 123321 and it did not work. not sure how to modifiy the reg on cantiecar to try it out
