any ideas plz

check if the module might went into transport mode , or you may need to calibrate the ESP/ABS/BAS yaw angle sensors!!

do you see any DTC messages ?

If you reset brake pad wear on E90 without new pad wear sensors . It will bring on handbrake light permanently.

On E90 in service info it gives you a percentage of how much of the pad is left if you reset when pad wear is below 90%, it logs fault in the ABS DSC .

Now you must fit new pads with sensors and reset diagnostically. then handbrake light will go out and all with good again.

how did you solve it?

you have got a bad luck mate ,, those cars have very complicated ABS/stability module ,, and since no DTC found or wrning lamp indicators illuminated on the Dash !!

then you have many reasons to expect ,, first of them , some brake/stability sensors calibrations followed by special test drive and many times no way to restore this module to its original calibrations , please check when and why the problem started , I got a past problem with this module just because wrong model tire size :)

Good Luck mate.

To fix this problem you have to reset the brakes via cluster. Anyway couple of hundreds of miles and car wake/sleep sequence would have solved the problem. I understand that we don't always have time. That saod when nothing you've tried does not work, you have to use a GT1 amd run a test plan and that i can gurantee you works 100%, of course, provided that the brake linings and both front left and rear right sensors are good.

A little correction: resetting brake pads that are worn out (-?????miles) or pads that have a couple hundreds miles from 0 mile will not bring the indicator to 0 mile but most likely to a minus thousands of miles. There's a temporary and simple trick to go around that but it can endanger the driver's life...so with BMWs especially it's always necessary to put in bramd new sensors when the pads are replaced.

can you please tell me the trick so i can atleast eliminate the mileage correction to be at fault, otherwise they wont buy new sensors

I have a 2006 5 series when the car came in it says service due rear brake pads required please bring to bmw dealer. so i corrected the dash as instructed and did cas 2 via dp3 using c22 put back in car and mileage read correctly but tamper dot light is shown so i reset time and date and drove it well over 30kms and tamper dot still wont go out but everything works fine. so the owner brings the car to the mechanic and he says the brake pads are fine so he replaced the sensors only and he cannot clear the brake pad warning. so now ive been told that it is my fault that it will not clear because of the tamper dot light. anyone would like to share there clues on how to fix it or ? appreciate some help if its available

Dp3 has a habit of putting up the tamper dot with the cas 2 module. Ok. normally it clears after about 8 miles but not always as in the above case. Originally, the software was fine but it was changed and since then it puts up the tamper dot. Use rosfar 260 or an equivalent programmer for cas 2 . I don't think it wise to use the DP3 and cable C22 for cas 2. Arthur.

Hi Arthur, the reason i used the DP3 and cable C22 for cas 2 is i never had a problem before, im after driving 100kms and still tamper dot light stays on so i think the dp3 must have corrupted the cas2 , but all dp3 saved files are encrypted si il have to get on to them monday to see about installing the original file , do you know if it corrupts any other bytes than what it should or just writes the mileage address wrong ?

I don't know what it does. I haven't used it except for once after the software was changed in late 2006/early 2007. I don't need problems like the tamper dot, so now I use only a genuine Rosfar 260. Arthur.

otherwise try to do cas again with rosfar
maybe it cure the fault

moto111
19th July, 2014, 08:16 PM
I tried again with rosfar kept a copy of the eeprom so i could change when it read ( Validation error ) do not programme, so i changed it anyway to the correct sum i needed put it back in the car and hey presto tamper dot gone. will not be using the dp3 with the c22 again as you say Arthur, i compared the two eeprom files from the cas 2 unit before and after and even tho they are writing in the correct addresses it looks like the dp3 is writing with the wrong algorithms, there are attached if someone would like to do a compare incase you get stuck in this mess again, Thank you everyone for your input
