Hi guys,
I have a Audi A3 my 2007 dash on table and i want to power up.
Someone know what are pins?
Tried pin like in Autodata:
1,2,18 - 12v+
3,4,19 - GND
29,30 - CAN Gateway.

Dashboard is connected to a CAN Gateway but won't power up.
I try with and without gateway. Same result.
Audi A3 8P, Audi TT 8J, Audi R8

4 - GND KL31
5 - CAN Wakeup to CAN-Gateway

To power on on desk you need CAN-Gateway + Bordnetzsteuerger?t or you have to send wake-up via CAN
On HL-version you can also press button on dash so it will power up for short time.

I have a dashboard from A6 2007 (same as Q7), I think is same connector (grey).
I dont have any Gateway module....I am going to scrap tomorrow to take one...but have 2 questions:

Can be powered without Gateway???

Gateway from A6 same year will be almost imposible, can I use any other gateway from other vag car similar year???


Now I am almost sure Why last week cannot diag with an airbag unit on bench!! I have not used Gateway...perhaps it is needed.

You have two possibilities you need bordnetz or steering ecu to wake up dash.

Or go to car make ignition on and sniff canbus signal. :D

1) Dear lupu sandu.to power ignition on the dash,just need (1) getway module + (2) must connect (onboard supply).
2) now i don't have a dash to show u by video,as soon i try to load a video.

You need much more than the gw, you also need the ezs ignition switch bordnetzstg. To power up cluster

Or buy a can emulator for a6 cluster

Sure 100% I need EZS ignition??? So key is also needed???? Seems strange.....First post started by Lupu dooesnt say anything about ezs module.

In fact this gateway module has an output specific to "wake up dash" (pin 13).
Also has a 12v permanent
12v ignition
Of course also can wires direct to dashboard, and can wires to obd......

Why then is EZS needed..... seems too complicated for me to get success then.....

chriskross has rigth with gateway you can only communicate with the dash , no light, no display, no km .At A3 dash you can see km if you press the km button I dont know if it works with A6 too.

about Q7 connection.

1) (Golfmkl) about j533 data bus diagnostic interface types,(1) up to May 2008 26-multi-pin connection, (2) from June 2008 20-multi-pin connection.
2) by connect together j285 = dash panel + j518 = EZS - Kessy with his working key + E415 = START authorization switch,after done this result in video.
PS:next week i try to found A3 dash up 2007,to show by video ignition on.

Thanks for help I have original Gateway ( 26 pins) and also old model 20 pin. In fact there is no difference dash sme response with both of them...can comm but dont power up.
..... dont have other modules seems easier with an emu....

How can I sniff canbus signal??? Should not be a problem but I never done...going to research some info...but car is in my garage no problem about. Could be my solution

yes, but not is this point which we are toking about how can diag the dash,we toking about how we can see ignition on show on the dash.simply if you have (Elsawin) he show you all connection OUT PUT AND INPUT from dash to where going and the each pin function.:eviltongue::top:

Connected Check Button. Now when pressed mileage can be seen 20 seconds but dashboard start.......I cannot see start central screen (TYPICAL A6 Q7 fail), I think must not power on....but at least mileage can be seen.

Moreover mileage can also be seen without this button, you should make diag with a simple vAGCOM. and see in measuring blocks 001 is the value.


I dont Know if can be dangeours to dismantle the j518 from car (lost info or something like that)...but I have car and will be my solution.

friend,why u want to dismount the j518=EZS from the car? you wont to test on the bench? did you do connection u wont to test it? no you don't loos any thing in j518 ezs if you remove from car and test it. i don't know if this is your QUESTION???

Yes I want to test in bench, cause I have 1 non working center display....change lot of things but don't work...want to see whats happening...

I will remove Ezs now, hope don't be difficult. Gateway, key with ignition switch I already have....

Hi,
good.it difficult little to remove the screws of EZS, but if your connection with long wires so no need to remove EZS, try connect your EZS 2 connectors to the car EZS and test it if it is possible.

Pin 28 and 29 canbus. ( I can read cluster codeing. Etc but cluster dosent show any power on fasica ie mileage lights rpm. Temp or fuel gauge
) I assume I need to add a bcm ? But unsure any advise and help on data or wake up. Please
