Hi Seano123, What are the exact fault codes ?

p0407 egr position sensor low input, p1187 variant coding, p1635 vehicle speed, the egr fault code wont clear

Are you sure about the description for these codes?
P0407 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor "B" Circuit Low
Note the "B" that there are at least 2 (Position) Sensors and the code refers to the second one.
P1635 - Tire/Axle Out of Acceptable Range
See: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1635 Definition (http://www.aboutautomobile.com/DTC/P1635)
This last one maybe caused by the incorrect variant coding.

there the codes that was written down by another garage using a snap on diagnostic machine, arnt the sensors fitted within the egr valve itself? the cars even been back to ford to double check the new ecu is configured right, they say it is but there is two codes throttle position and the egr fault, unable to get codes tho, would it be worth getting another auto electrician to look at as the first one is known to be shit?

I had a no start 1.6 tdci fusion the other day where the (faulty) EGR pulled the circuit 2 5v reference wire to ground. Unfortunately the same 5V was required by the crank sensor and the one pedal position sensor circuit (something else too but I can't remember).
I unplugged the EGR and it started.
Is it possible that the opposite is happening in your case where the 5V reference has been pulled low to the EGR and that sets the fault?
Check it with a voltmeter?

The throttle position fault could be interesting.
Some makes use what they call an "EGR Throttle", which is as I understand it a throttle plate between the EGR channel and the inlet manifold. This is a part of the EGR system.
Exact fault code (and number) may clarify this.
With regards to the P1635 code: I have seen reports where people changed the final drive on the car and then got this code. It seems the ecu is checking engine rpms versus road speed. The gearbox and final drive are standard? Wheel sizes are standard? No slipping clutch?
If the car is modelyear 2004 or younger anybody with a OBD2/EOBD scanner would be able to read the codes for you.

hello again the codes are:
p1187 variant coding
p2459 diesel particulate filter regeneraration frequency
p1635 tire/axle out of accetpable range (no slipping clutch standard wheels ect)
p0405 exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit low input
p0407 exhaust gas recirculation sensor B low input
all faults clear exept p0405/p0407 (they will not clear with the engine running or just ignition lights on)
all wiring is ok, after messing about recoding the egr valve and clearing codes time for road test.......
car drove ok then the engine stopped, recording 2 more codes:
p0087 fuel rail system pressure too low
p1180 fuel delivery system malfunction
ford focus 2006 1.6 tdci 109hp
new parts fitted ecu, egr valve

p1180 is fuel supply to low, fuel metering unit or bad connection

download ecu to binfile then take fap and egr out of it then write back to ecu or you will be there all year
