Hello Friends.

I'm looking for a MPC555 Processor re balling template, I have this information:

Plastic ball grid array (PBGA) packaging
388 ball PBGA
27 mm x 27 mm body size
1.0 mm ball pitch

What size are the balls for this processor ?

I guess 1.0mm ball pitch is the space between each ball location.

Any good supplier links etc would be very appreciated

Thanks

Darwins

Hi,
you can find everything on this sheet, you need.
this one has 1,27mm ball pitch
mpc561 has 1mm ball pitch and 0.6mm balls

You need 0,76mm balls for this one, pretty cheap here:

25K Leaded BGA Solder Ball 0.76mm BGA Reballing Rework Balls ROHS SGS | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/25K-Leaded-BGA-Solder-Ball-0-76mm-BGA-Reballing-Rework-Balls-ROHS-SGS-/320938458173?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab96c3c3d)

and here is a stencil:

Hi nemena

Do you use a jig holding the template in place or do you tape the template to the MPC & heat up ?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Darwins,

I bought this reballing kit from ebay:
Pro BGA Reballing Repair Stencil Soldering Station Kits | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-BGA-Reballing-Repair-Stencil-Soldering-Station-Kits-/190439365992?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c57121d68)
and use this. But sometimes I stick the mask on the pcb and reball the pcb an then place the mcu.
I suggest cutting the mask to the proper mcu size, and fix it somehow, because it gets deformed when heated up.
Needs a lot of patience.
