Hi Guys

I am battling with a polo vivo 2010/11 model. Has a Magnetti Ecu. Vcds report added from ecu. i get error code 01314 no communication.

What i find strange is that after i turn off the ignition turn it on and scan ecu i am able to read faults however sometime like a minute later it gives a error in communication fault. In the can gate way i # 126 i have good communication with ecu and instrument. I however do notice when i crank that rev counter moves up a bit which is normal but after i am done the temp gauge sits on about 70 degrees yet the car has been standing overnight.

Another fault i notice is that mileage that faults are recorded in is 104080Km yet the dash shows 50851Km?
I am assuming mileage was changed but the non start condition can anyone give pointers?
Key light goes out, no faults in immo or to do with crank sensor. I have + 12v on pin 1 and 3 from my understanding. Is this ecu faulty? Anyway to test it and also does anyone have a correct ecu pinout ? Is this a common error?

Another issue that puzzles me is that communication to ecu comes and goes when i can communicate i go into activations or output tests and it activates fuel pump relay main relay but when it comes to injectors there is no sound or pulsing noise?

Any assistance help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Have you measured the ground points for the ECU too? To me it sounds like battery negative might not be in the ecu's harness....it's just a guess though, but it might be worth checking.

Hi,

you'll find the diagram in Elsawin, checking powers&grounds of pcm is agood point to start at. You got more info on how the fault developed?

Hi guys apparently customer drove home got out did some business inside house then returned to car to start but thats how it ended. I checked all earths that are commonly brown to me on german and vw and they all there yes. I do not have elsa win can i furnish vin and engine number for the pin outs perhaps?

Mate just remember that that vehicle has the polo 6R chassis which means it have the cluster which says VDO on it but is in fact actually a Johnsons cluster. I have had a simular problem with a polo 2012 GTI 6R chassis with just crank and no start and it turned out to be bad wiring between cluster and body control unit under dash.

Sure Meaty my mate. With the one I had in my shop which would crank but not start, turned out that the vehicle was a 2012 model which had been in a bad accident and insurance had written it off and sold on an auction to my customer. He had carried out the repair himself during 2012 and got it started and driving July 2012. He drove it for 2 months and then it just died on him and would only crank. Was towed to me and after two days of fault finding on it I found that connector 2 on the body control module had slightly come adrift and caused the vehicle not to run. Also explaining why the cluster was not working correctly. Pushed the plug back into body control module and started and drove.

Here is a pic of polo 6R body control module. It was plug A which had come slightly adrift.

This one was off a 1.4 vivo but exactly the same as the GTI 6R chassis.

hey guys i will proceed to strip out and double check the wiring and connectors, I had a closer look and it appears this too was in a accident which can explain the differences in mileage. What puzzles me is that i can access all modules ok except the ecu is giving me grief. In the can gate way it says communication to all is good so that bugs me. I will now proceed to check under dash for loose connections and Mr MH thanks for the tip on the ecu the guys who offer testing needs to understand your thinking around that and drop prices here is SA there is a few good guys but it seems as if we have to pay for their generation of childrens education.

Mr ghostrider just a question when you expirienced your error were you able to access all modules? Also my engine code clb not listed anywhere can someone provide me with a ecu pin out or diagram at least? Thanks again for the response gents
