191330191328191329Hi to all,

I'm trying to read this MC68HC05B8 mask 3D33J and it's giving me big headhaches...!

First tried to read it on board with Carprog and nothing... I attached photo of connections. I'm powering Carprog with 12v, but according to Carprog scheme I didn't connected Violet wire, which as far as I read it's the 12v wire.

Then I tried with Xprog-M on board and nothing...
Then dissolder it and read it with Xprog adapter - attached photos - and I think it corrupted the info of the MCU and of course of the dump.

What am I doing wrong???

Kind of stucked with this one!!!

Please HELP!

Thank you SO MUCH!!

Should I remove the crystal from the immo box and solder it to pins 16+17 of the Xprog adapter??? And then read it???

This mask is difficult to read, especially in circuit. Use ETL programmer and read with adapter, this is the safest way.

Thanks for your reply.
I don't have ETL. do you think Xprog can do the job? Shall I dissolder crystal from immo box and solder it on Xprog adapter?

Personally, I do not have XPROG. But I tested many other programmers earlier, and now I only use ETL for this type of motorola mcu.
I think you can use xprog, but only with external adapter. Or pull-up all legs from mcu.

There is no need to solder crystal if MCU in adapter. MCU could be secured, and if you use programmer which could not skip security, some data in MCU will be erased. I'm using Omega programmer for motorola MCU's, which is good to skip security, but getting old and now looking to Orange5.
Here some info about HC05 series from Omega manual...
----

Security organisation of microcontrollers.HC05
In microcontrollers series HC05 the security activates in zero SEC bit in Options register (OPTR). For 05b and 05x this register is positioned in the first cell of EEPROM ( address $0100).
After SEC is being activated the processor can't be turned on in Serial RAM loader regime, respectively read and write the memory is not possible. To work with secured processors it is needed to use Skip SEC function of the programmer MTRK.
WARNING! In some cases the loading is modified by the manufacturer in such a manner which leads to erasing the EEPROM in Serial RAM loader. I such cases you have to use the function Skip SEC, and not Boot when you work with such a scheme!
Function Skip SEC doesn't change the condition of the SEC bit.To remove the security it is needed to modify the register OPTR.

May it helps you

Are all authorizathions in your Xprog?, this MCU has security bytes.

If you have all authorizations in Xprog then try with other mask, for me i succeed trying other mask with xprog

hello DK members in attched file : wiring diagram on picture is a best solution for all motorola hc05 to red whith xprog
it's better to desolding this cpu from her place
Best Regards

Desolder from PCB, give to plcc adapter for xprog m. I use original. And then read without problem.

I'm trying to read HC05X32 0D69J on borad programming adapter (QFP64 P/C:1 002 0005) with X-prog and after "initialising device" comes Bypass Security and nothing happens. What could be the problem???

I don't know, bad MCU, bad soldering, bad xprog board...

Soldering is ok 100%, MCU not sure, you mean HC05 programming adapter faulty?
