Hi guys i need some help or tips please. I have a car polo 9N shape . The license disk shows it had a BBY engine in. Now someone fitted a CLP engine. There are some loose plugs and i see someone joined the crank angle sensor wires. I moved the coding over from old ecu onto new ecu not new but 2nd hand as i was handed that as the problem. Now....

My key light goes out epc light is on dash battery light shows but the vehicle doesnt start. When i check live data it shows while cranking a rpm signal but the fault shows as 16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) P0322 - 35-00 - No Signal. I do not have a wiring diagram for it and i do not know how the wires need to be configured on crank sensor. I have attached the dtc printout.

If there is anyone who did a engine swop out or knows or can help me please assist. I just need to get it started.

The BBY engine code crank sensor terminal 1 to 87 on engine control unit
terminal 2 to 82 on engine control unit
terminal 3 to 108 on engine control unit
are you sure the replacment donor engine is CLP

yes it looks like the polo vivo motor . On the side of the cylinder head it says CLP with the barcode next to it. A little birdy has told me the bby engine is crank sensor and belt deriven whereas CLP is chain driven and crank and cam sensor fitted. Can you confirm? Does this mean that the ecu is not capable of running this motor?

Thanks for the reply also my wires going to the crank sensor doesnt go to those pins which is even weirder,

Can anyone confirm that clp engine needs crank and cam sensors for ecu to produce spark? Also can it be confirmed that bby has only crank sensor and bby ecu cannot run a clp engine?

Anyone?

I woud start with install VW group info. system ETIS, ETKA, ODIS.... or what it now calls.
Most people lift over sensors from old to new engine, if anything is suspisious.
Tell them put back right engine.
