I need universal Eeprom/MCU programmer for Immo to work together with Tango/TMpro2.
I will be working with cars mostly made in 2002-2010, all cars are RHD (UK/England), Toyota and Nissan can be import from Japan. Car brands by priority: VAG, Toyota, Ford, Renault, Nissan, Opel?maybe Hyundai, Peugeot, Mazda.
I don?t have experience with programmers, but read a lot about them and still can?t make my choice. :hmmmm2:
I was suggested to use original BeeProg2 (expensive adapters) and orig Xprog-M all authentications. But pockets are not so deep, so my budget is no more than 1000eur. What can you suggest for this money (important to have protection from dummies as I?m newbie. :tears_of_joy: Btw, if price difference isn?t huge I prefer EU or ?Russians? clone?s instead of china.
SmartProg2 (Elnec orig), Xeltek SP501s/500P SP601s/600P (original from china), Galep-5 (sounds good, does it have auto ID?), Wellon VP990, Batronix BX40, Willem GQ4X (cheap good?), TOP 3100, Orange5 (some people say it?s overpriced?), Xprog-M (?Russians? have clone V5.0), ETL?s (?Russians?), UPA-USB, iProg, Seeprog, MiniPro TL866, ChipProg.
I?m open to any suggestions or combinations of these programmers. Please have in mind, I will use mostly for Immo.
Thanks

one of opinions about Orange5
total key asked at 25th January, 2012: "can someone can confirm that zedprog and orange5 is Waste of money, and cheaper programmer can do the same job?????"
got answer from Fallen:
"Orange 5 with full adapters is pretty good.
It's useless without adapters as its ISP is bad unless you buy the IMMO Plus software.
My advice, buy from scorpio direct not a reseller though."

not an easy question to answer, I have about 6 different programmers and they have been bought because one of my other programmers would not do it. Do you have any diagnostic equipment for programming? or are you solely doing bench work? if you want to be able to do VAG specailly the later stuff with micronas chip in dash you will need the x-prog to read in circuit. The UPA is an ok bit of kit and covers most motorola MCU that you will come across and also the majority or serial eeproms, on the downside it isn't very user friendly ie. not much info. The orange 5 is a good peice of kit and can read a lot of secured MCU's though the xprog M can also cover these. If you are only starting out the orange 5 is good with the immo hpx files as this will give you a guide on quite a lot of immos and works well with the tango. If you are going to be working on ecu's for immo off ect. you are bound to come across intel flash chips sopp44 etc. the GQ-4x covers these and is a good cheap alternative to others, just need to purchase sopp44 adaptor this would cost about ?20 in comparison to about ?240 for the orange option. I could go on and on....
ps. TMpro2 comes with reader for serial eeproms, can be purchased from uk distributor at remotekeys.co.uk
orange 5 with hpx files would be a good place to start as is quite user friendly and a good amount of info, if you are new to this I would suggest this as if you try and read certain mcu from boot you will auto erase the eeprom and then u'll be in the shit :joyous:.

as rivalryman mentioned - not easy to answer.
i have so far upa original and xprog clone and just bought SMOK (http://www.smok.com.pl/index.php?lang=en&id=oferta&kategoria=3&produkt=57)
my friend has it and he is verry happy. he does all the secured mercedes ignition without any problems.
download the soft and install and you see all the docs - all soldering points shown etc.
i just did today vito van hc08az32 - no problem at all.
hope its some sort of alternative as well

I have equipment for diagnostic programming - MVP pro, need some "token saver" as well. Thinking to buy VVDI, True Code, Cryptoworks, Toyota Smart key programmer. But still big question for universal programmers...
Anyway, we have on the list:
1. Orange5 + HPX immo (300eur) + full adapters, except sop44 (good manuals + some secured MCU's).
Or i don't need all adapters as i'm buying HPX immo?
like Fallen mentioned: "Orange 5 with full adapters is pretty good.
It's useless without adapters as its ISP is bad unless you buy the IMMO Plus software."
Can i get good manuals for other programmer without paying 300eur? :)
2. GQ-4x + sopp44 adaptor for immo off (usually working with "lost all keys", but it would be handy for project cars or something like that)
3. Smok box + 1option for HC12 + option5 for micronas (60+230+250 = 540eur), or just take full for 850eur...
Maybe its better to buy Xprog-M, with some authentications? Xprog-M still more popular product and maybe more stable?
4. Upa - popular, but not user friendly. But have cheap adapters (if bought from china)?
Big thanks to rivalryan! Please, don't be shy :) express yourself :)

1. HPX on the orange is basically just some extra software, it comes with a about 150 pictures of immo's showing how to read them whether it be in circuit or not. Also you can choose what you want to read by make and model, basically you have the option of say VW polo 93c86 when you click on this it opens the correct reader, you can then click on info and the picture of this immo (cluster) will appear, which as I said before would be very useful if you where unsure of things. If you buy the orange you have to by with full adaptors IMHO and I think you will be pleased you spent the extra on the HPX immo soft. I know your on a budget but these files will help you quite a lot and may actually save you a lot of money as I aslo mentioned reading certain masks from boot will erase them. I have had people phone me up plenty of times that use for e.g the UPA and say 'Ryan this eeprom dump is empty' then they tell me the mask of the chip and I give them the bad news so it can end up costing a lot more than ?300 :top:
2. GQ-4x with sopp44 and ziff socket for eeproms as a backup, this little programmer has never failed me, it only cost ?100 including the adaptors, don't use it a massive amount but it paid for itself on the first job. Deffinetly worth picking up in the future, sometimes the only solution is to immo off, specially if the car is getting on, people dont want to spend lots of money they just want the car to run.You could get away without this for quite a lot of immo off jobs. For me with regards VAG 50% of the time it has been a flash chip, specaily on the older ones
3. x-prog M with full authentification (clone) is all you need for the micronas total cost about ?65, comes with most adaptors etc. also reads most secure mcu's no prob. Can't go wrong for the price so a must have in my opinion.
4. the UPA with full adaptors isn't a bad product I use this as a secondary to my orange, also if you buy a decent set of microhooks (est. ?110) if does come with the pin out of pretty much every Motorola you will come across, a lot of the time this mean just attaching 3-4 microhooks and reading in circuit eg. I just used it to read an alfa 147 BSi, (the one with the 1K79X mcu) clip 4 microhooks on and read, job done.
Over time you will end up buying them all, the question is what one to start out with.
PS all my programmers are original apart from the xprog

1. orange5 + full adapters + HPX Immo = 950eur + VAT (the same price like BeeProg without adapters and don't have HPX Immo).
2. GQ-4x with psop44 and ziff socket ~130
3. Xprog-M, ~80eur
Total including shipment 1200eur
4. Another programmer later on, if use UPA with microhooks, than maybe iProg is good option as well. Big advantage UPA have cheap calculators.
were to get more manuals like HPX Immo? from Carprog? From Immo soft (like universal immo decoder)?
