Had the same problem. Bought genuine lishi which takes a lot of tension and have been using over a year no problems

Thanks for sharing experiences
I was told Apollo actually sell the "true" genuine Lishi range rather than the UK distrubutor !!
But with this tibbe pick there is no lishi mark - nothing!
I'll part with more dosh n be more careful :)

the picks are not lishi (tibbe) its always the bottom bit was going to weld mine then reshape with key machine because its a weakness. have to factor in cost of such tools when pricing work. you will just have to look around

hehe well ~ ?35 bought me crap. Like you say rayjay, the tool will pay for itself so rather pay ?150 + and get a tool can use time n time again.
I'll be a Professional (well after some practice :hmmmm2: )

mr li doesnt make a tibbe pick , he never has made one , so in reality there is no such thing as a lishi tibbe pick .
The pick you refer to was always a chinese pick , but cheaply made from china , the tool is a series of thin shafts , the turners are just glued on in china .
tradelocks own the brand name genuine lishi , so tradelocks copied the tool and had a stronger version made where the turners are silver soldered on , giving a stronger tool , but due to the thin sleeves even this stronger tool can break , once they made this it was sold as a genuine lishi tool as they own the genuine lishi brand name.
OBDSYSTEMS , apollo do sell original mr li lishi tools , but as mr li has never made a tibbe pick , apollo dont sell a lishi tibbe pick , no one does , tradelocks and their distributors sell their genuine lishi branded tibbe pick , but not to be confused with any tool made by mr li , so your info on apollo selling only real lishi tools from mr li is correct , but the tibbe is not a lishi tool as never made by mr li , and apollo dont advertise it as a lishi tool either as its not. .
It is one tool that genuine lishi brand did take from china and improve and make stronger than the chinese version , stronger but not as strong as a safe ventures tool.
so the apollo tibbe is a chinese tibbe , weaker by design as glued and not a lishi tibbe as lishi do not and have never made a tibbe pick.
was it on a transit , or did it have 1 isolated No 4 , if so breakages are common due to too much tension on the 4 , i never open with this tool on transit , i pick and decode without fully opening door , or use the safe ventures tool on transits.

No I never had the joy of actually using it properly - just on an old lock in my hand - straight out the box
Was my fault (probably) but tool was naff.
I've been given another link Pinky who say there's ok from china -
Or would you recommend "safe ventures" - tho seems you use both ???
Shame Apollo sell this tool - its always a gamble with these Chinese companies ??
Thanks

i use both , many claim to have stronger , but you get a good one or a bad one from all suppliers in reality , as much as it grieves me to say it , the one made by tradelocks and sold as genuine lishi is the strongest ive used to date of these.
safe ventures is harder to learn , but once learnt is a tool for life and strongest on market by far .
ive 3 of the tradelocks ones that ive used for past 18 months without a breakage , others have broke them quickly , so you will read good and bad reviews , no matter where you buy these , you will get a good one or a bad one .

Let me get this right, trade locks have registered the name " genuine lishi" and sell copy lishi picks under that name?

tradelocks own the name genuine lishi and the genuine lishi logo , mr li doesnt own this name so cant sell his tools himself under this name just as he cant and doesnt sell tools himself under the 13 song name . they do buy lishi 2in1 tools and lishi std picks from mr li and put there own logo on them , and they also make some tools themselves , the tibbe being one of these .
the tibbe isnt a fake lishi tool , it is a tool made by genuine lishi made by tradelocks and sold under their brand name and logo . lishi do not make a tibbe so it cant be a copy or fake tool .
so no they dont sell fake tools , they sell real lishi tools and have their logo put on them to brand them under their brand, and they also sell their own tools under the genuine lishi name.
if a distributor buys enough tools , then mr li will put their own logo on the tool as he has done in past with 13 song and with genuine lishi , until recently mr li supplied genuine lishi only with 2in1 , but recently this agreement ended and was not renewed and mr li also sells these now under his own logo.
the name genuine lishi is a brand name , not a statement of authenticity though at one time it was as they had exclusivity , when the exclusive agreement was in place and mr li only sold to them , then it was for all intents and purposes the only source of genuine tools , but now 4 to 5 years on the agreement has expired , so not the only source of real tools anymore .
this agreement was good for mr li as tradelocks invested heavily in development and funded the 2in1 to go from 1 tool to 65 tools in 5 years , but now for what ever reason the agreement has expired and mr li now also sells his tools under his own logo as well as still supply tradelocks and 13 song as distributors , so nothing sinister or fake , just an agreement ending and more choice of where to buy from now .this came to light at the ALOA show in baltimore in july when mr Li attended the baltimore show and supported both genuine lishi distributors and apollo as his chinese distributor under his own logo .
so the only change is that original tools from mr li are now available from more than 1 supplier , the plus side being cheaper tools from apollo , the downside being that i doubt tradelocks will invest in so much future development if no longer exclusive .

Like most of you i have the chinese pick, and i have been using the same ones for nearly 2 years, i have 2 of them, what i do when one of them starts rotating(spins round without picking), i put it in a vice, and clamp it a bit hard, and a little bit of filling, that should give it few more goes.
I did also buy the SV tool, but for me its useless, i pick , decode, cut and programm one TIBBE key , with this tool for around 20 minutes.
PS. i did also buy this so called gen lishi tibbe from T.L,but only lasted once, so much for the silver soldering, dont buy this tool!

As i said , you will get good and bad reviews on all these including safe ventures .
with the safe ventures tool once you get to grips with it its a quick tool and very responsive , but it does take practice .
with the catapillar tool you will get good and bad from where ever you buy it , this is down to design , i have a few of the very first goso ones with brass handle still going strong , i have some chinese ones still going strong , so there is good and bad in all of them.
these are a delicate tool and have never responded to heavy handed use , treat them right they last longer .
for stubborn locks , especially transit , the plug turns a little once picked , i decode in this position as saves straining the 4s opening with it , if i do open with it , i cover and turn multiple turners when in this position to spread the strain.
the catarpillar will always be quicker , but will break , the safeventures tool will last the test of time even for a heavy hand , it just takes longer to master , once mastered it too is a very quick tool .
even the old souber tool has its uses , especially on ignitions .
at end of day its personal preference and what you get on with most , i like all options in my arsenal .
