View Full Version : Recoding Touran Med17.1 from automatic transmission to manual

Hello friends!
Does someone know how to recode this ECU from automatic transmission to manual?
The car is VW Touran 1.4TSI ecofuel (metane), ECU is 03C906021F, software version 9970.
Any help will be welcome...

i'm not sure but with some vag cars
you can change with vcds (vagcom) you can choose the soft coding on engine
1-2-3 automatic - manual - or 4x4

yes seem to been possible with coding and then change the code from AT to 5MT or 6MT

But ECU reject the coding for 5MT or 6MT...
There i can only recode the CAN bus function - airbag, clima and ABS.
I see in Bosch ESI... there is different ecu numbers for man. or aut. transmissions e.g. 03C906021... F-automat, E-manual.
So, seems to be impossible to recode... and definitely is impossible to reprogram the all ECU with software for different HW number (e.g "clone")
So, the only way is to find the right ECU and to do "immo off"...

I don't think you can change manual to auto or auto to manual by changing code in newer ecu. Code will be rejected. With some ecu you can replace complete file from other vehicle. Nothing is easy with newer models.

Anyway... the client start to search now ECU with correct software.

Epprom Encrypted! ! If you change in Epprom only ,car have dtc in engine and abs ecu (transmission communication fault ) cruise and esp don't work!!

Hi, i got a similar problem, i put an automatic ecu in a manual gearbox equipped car. when i recode it keeps rejecting. I have attached the eeprom file, can you please have a look byte 4 should be 18.
