Hi guys,
I have problem with VAG ECU 0281 013 299, EDC16U34, Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDi, MY 2008

Conditions: Engine off, ignition on:
The ECU is suddenly switched off and on again, everything sporadically and more times than the ECU heated. No defects in the ECU, just other units have a DTC 01314 - Engine Control Module - No Communications. The engine suddenly goes off, also while driving. Everything on the car was checked, the problem is in the ECU.

Does anyone know where is the place of the problem in the ECU or what component is causing this? Unfortunately, cold joints not found.
Symptoms disappear after heating unit, if the unit is cool symptoms will reappear. Only one component which is heats up is the driver 30622, when the engine stop. Is this driver possible causes?

Thanks for your help

Reballing MCU would worth trying... Other than that try reflowing MCU.

Thanks for the push, it would be worth a try.
On the other ECU car doesn't have problems.

the problem is MCU you must reballing (100%).but I did reflow 1 MCU before 2 moths and ECU still work.Saw you can tray, but for 100% results you must do raballing.

Is this BGA package? Cheap option to shove in your oven -
but for how long & what temp lol

professional option is take it to PCB company (many about) and pay them say ?80 to do proper jobbie

Time is money, if it was me, I would source a second hand unit and clone the original ECU.

some laptop repair shop would have a reballing machine... That's where I would go... I did re-flow one too and has been working OK.

put this in the oven and when the oven have 198C? put the ECU open stait with some havy on the BGA in the oven and wait 29min and then switch
off the oven and open the door litle to drop down the temperatur but not tooch the ecu befor this have normal temperture.

To see what happens!
is the defect gone - then you must rebooling the BGA when not then the defect is in another place, maybe some components condensators "ceramic"

198?C it?s not enough temperature to lead free solder, but is too much temperature to plastic plugs, the only reaction to your solution is laugh.
Use a reballing station and do a good job.
