Hi,
Customer has only one working key to his Alfa 159 (year 2006)
Inside PCF7941
He has a second key from a scrapyard...
Can I re-use with replace the PCF and with EFFI ?
No one took the key programming.
They certainly know something that I do not ...

Unfortunately you can not.You have 2 options.
Order key from dealer.
Or unlock that PCF7941 that is originally on board.
Prepare key by Effi, and finish programming via OBD,else remote won't work if written directly to dump.

Only transponder will works ???

Yes that is right.PCF7941 is programmed with specific eeprom data that regular transponder machines can't program
That is why you need unlocked PCF7941,it will have the right eeprom data.
Blank PCF7941 won't have that data,so it will only start the car.
You can try companies that do the unlocking of car keys.

Forget to unlock that pcf because key is from scrapyard and you dont have original BCM to take info for unlock....

Hi, can you please anybody help me with Alfa 159 key? My key died (first went remote, after about 3 engine starts starting died also) so I take spare one and that works fine. In my first key I found, that PCF chip is dead completely so i replaced it for new one. I know, that remote will be dead, but I want it to be at least able start the car. When I try to program it with AlfaOBD it could not recognize new transponder. Where could be the problem? I was thinking, that blank new PCF would be fine for coding engine starting. Thank you for any suggestions.

Why not? There are some people who has done it. I know that to program new key properly by Examiner or AlfaOBD etc. I need Fiat precoded key, but that is too much expensive. But it should be possible to program it by reading car body computer and add it manually. Key should be able to start the car, but remote would be dead. I have tried many locksmiths here in Czech Republic, but nowhere near they could do this and original Alfa key is very expensive so I would like to do it myself.

yes you can get the immo working on pcf7941 but you can't get the remotes working.

Clone the chip on a tpx4 and put it in your second hand key and remove the board or the antenna.
You will be able to start the car but you will have no remote.
Better than no key at all.

simaservis1108 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/388275-simaservis1108): This key was completely death. One day morning I could not unlock my car with remote, so I was thinking it is only battery and unlock it manually. Car started up and I was going home from holiday. On the way I have stopped at service station and after having a lovely brunch car not only refused to unlock by remote but refused to start at all saying only "electronic key not recognized". My friend bring spare key and car started well and all was working fine. But first key remained completely death. There was no reaction of transponder to car, coil was OK as was all other capacitors etc. So only thing that could be death is PCF.
