It's not a jpg it's an mvi file and needs to be named exactly once you have converted jpg into mvi if you do it manually lol easiest way is to Google xorion boot logo and use that to change them. I put a few of the national flags that i created in the bootlogo thread in dreambox section. First boot screen goes in boot screen. Second screen (GUI loading) goes in waiting. The rest are pretty self explanatory

Thanks m8 did mean the initial boot logo thought that was jpg file not mvi and should be in boot/bootlogo.jpg which shows open atv first screen you see on boot.
after is bootlogo.mvi which stays on with spinner I believe in /usr/share/bootlogo.mvi.
then bootlogo_wait.mvi in usr/share/bootlogo_wait.mvi
then /usr/share/backdrop.mvi
I have used DREAM LOGO
The initial boot logo I wanted to remove its not for me a friend wanted it replaced with a sky logo for some reason but don't seem to be able to find it. I thought the bootlogo.mvi was the file I needed but it does not change when I ftp it.

That one is the splash file you will find in the image folder when you install the image. Can't remember where that is off hand. I'll have a think lol

It is as i thought. You can't change the splash file after the image is loaded. The splash.bin is part of the image and messing with this part can lead to bricking the box. I'd leave well alone

Yes m8 you are correct they want the splash screen removed did not know they called it that until a few minutes ago done a lot of reading it has to be removed
before flashing this is how its done on OPEN ATV IMAGE FOR GIGABLUE/QUADPLUS. Quoted by OPEN ATV THEMSELVES I was surprised they told us.

- download latest openATV image
- extract it to a empty USB flashdrive
- remove following files (in USBdrive:/gigablue/quadplus): rootfs.bin, kernel.bin, initrd.bin
- flash it as as usual

have not tried it but will later on my m8s box not mine I will let him take the risk as that's what he wants but will tell him I am not responsible.
just had a look at the files looks easy to replace as well with one of your own but needs to be done before you flash same with splash for lcd screen.

Easy to replace if you know how to make the bin file. If you open the splash.bin or lcdsplash.bin with vlc you will see is actually a 10 second video clip not a jpg or any other format of still picture. I can't see why removing those files stated by atv will remove the splash. Surely you would remove the splash.bin not the kernel but what do i know lol I have to presume the image compilers will be correct

I have just given him the link to our thread he can make his own mind up.
don't see the point myself for the few seconds the splash screen shows.
I will do a bit more research just because I am intrigued.

as you said cant see the point of deleting some of the files stated do you think open atv they could be pulling my plonker, because if I spent all that time making an image would I allow my name to be removed.:banghead:

Not sure if they're pulling your leg. I doubt it but what i can tell you is that according to the vix team you can flash just the splash logo by removing every file except the splash one and flash the box with just the splash file as you would a full image. I can only see the point of this if you prefer the splash screen from a previous image as opposed to the current one but honestly how often do you do a full restart and as far as having one that says sly on it lol why pretend your box is worse than it really is. Never in a million years are you gonna full someone into thinking it's a genuine sly box. There's a big colour screen on the font of it for starters lol

I believe the TV is fed through to his shop in the evening.
but as you say if you don't reboot your box very often so if you have to reboot just turn it off whilst it reboots if you don't want it seen.
Tbh its taking too much of my time up trying to please him.
was doing it for the hobby but now he's taking liberties might start charging him.

Quite right. If his shop has customers then officially he would need the same licence as a pub to show the feed from his genuine sly subscription anyway. I think he is asking for trouble especially if it's a recreational establishment with the amount of people out there that have to pay the broadcasting thingy (pub owners) it won't be long before someone drops him in it so make sure nothing can be traced back to you.

The bootimage.jpg is in the boot folder but u must first mount it via telnet or edit yr fstab file before u can see those files.

Via telnet issue this command [mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock2 /boot]
Or edit fstab file and insert this line [/dev/mtdblock2 /boot jffs2 rw 0 0]

done that already m8 got mixed up with boot and splash screen apparently the only way to change the splash screen is to flash it to box as you would an image only got into it as a friend of mine wanted it changed to sky logo for some stupid reason.
