First thing to do is to get on Seggers website and go to the downloads page where it will ask you for the serial number of your J-Link. Search the web etc. and figure out a unique and unpublished serial number that will show up as a proper J-Link. When you have that the info is available to show what to do with your new serial and also alter the features string in an available older firmware dump. You can then update using any / all the software for the J-Link from Segger. The software looks for incorrectl features strings and also black-listed serials so when you have your own don't tell anyone what it is. To be fair its dead easy to do.

The free software is the programmer SW from Atmel for programming the MCU. I imagine the passworded file is the posters own modified firmware to upload to the MCU. To be fair you wouldn't want it to become public in case Segger blacklisted the serial if its included internally. Its better to get the firmware yourself from the net, golego and its there and also instructions. 'sonsivri' and 'dfrobot' come to mind (one in English and one in Chinese but both are very useful). Making your own serial (dead easy using the serial checker on Segger) has to be the best way to do it. Would posting the URL's, instructions and the original un-modded firmware be against board rules?

Just to let you know that anything after v4.96m bricks the v8 - even with private serials as far as I know (unless it is testing for something else?). If bricked the old trick of updating before entering a serial still works.
The available 2014 clone recovery update is not needed as the firmware included with it is the same as what has been out for a couple of years.
Just reprogram with firmware modded with your own features string and then update using the configurator. Then use commander to put your serial in. Configurator and commander from 4.96m work ok.
Thanks to Crackn for thinking outside the box.

forumoto, I got your PM, just follow these instructions:
Install J-Link software and AT91-ISP v1.13.
First, open casing solder pins for ERASE and TST.
Close ERASE jumper.
Connect to USB and wait 1 minute - this erases the chip.
Disconnect, move jumper to TST.
Connect to USB and wait 1 minute - this writes boot loader to chip.
Disconnect, remove jumper and plug back in to USB
Windows should find "ATMEL AT91xxxxx Test Board"
Set driver to atm6124 in drv directory of "sam-ba 2.9" under Atmel Corp'
Start SAM-PROG v2.4 and select your firmware file.
Select a firmware file modified with your own features string.
Leave PIO as is ("PIOA" and "O")
Tick "Set Security Bit"
Click "Write Flash"
When finished exit and disconnect.
Plug back in.
Start J-Link Configurator and update firmware. Close program.
Next start J-Link Commander and set your serial number:
Exec SetSN = xxxxxxxxx
(put your sn ^ here ^)
Close program.
Latest version I've tested is 4.96m

I have problem, and that is how do you write the boot loader, which utility do you need and what is the step involve...
Connect to USB and wait 1 minute - this writes boot loader to chip.
Disconnect, remove jumper and plug back in to USB
Windows should find "ATMEL AT91xxxxx Test Board"
How so i perform this task too
Start J-Link Configurator and update firmware. Close program
...................
Now when i did the erase, and waited to 1 minute and disconnect and jump the test pin and connect again, the computer cannot find the device any more... and the lite on the unit is not coming on again

Simply speaking the bootloader code is stored in a hidden part of the Atmel chip. Closing the TST jumper makes the chip itself copy this bootloader back to the 'boot' part of the chip - ie. the program in the chip's memory that runs when power is applied to the chip.
If you just do the erase part nothing will happen when power is applied as there is no program code in place to run.
The light won't come on until the chip is powered up with the Segger J-Link firmware in place.

I am suspecting that my unit is total brick, why am i saying this?
Because after the tst reset, and i plug the unit, and i go device manager, the item is detected and assign com7 as the port,
now when i call up samba software, and then i select the board type, and i click on connect... the software will disappear, now when i go to call sam pro, an select the bin file to flash with the device and i check security tip and i click on write, there is nothing respond or nothing comes on or there is no success reading in the dialog box, everything there is zero

Your Windows is detecting it as a COM port then. Its not your J-Link that is faulty. Its just windows that is being rubbish and picking its own preferred driver. Mine did that once when I was trying different Atmel programming software. Windows then stubbornly refused to detect the J-Link as the USB ATMEL AT91xxxxx Test Board ever again. What I did was to go in to device manager and uninstall the Atmel COM port driver and then reinstall the correct USB driver again by going through the usual windows driver install saga and clicking "Don't search. I will choose which driver to install". After clicking next there were two drivers available - the COM port driver and the USB ATMEL AT91xxxxx Test Board driver. I selected the USB driver and just clicked next (not the have disk) and windows then added the "ATMEL AT91xxxxx Test Board" to the list of USB devices under the icon near the desktop clock.
There is an older version of the Atmel programming software that should program the J-Link MCU via your virtual com port. I have tried this but I prefer the newer USB programming - just seems to be more stable for me.

I dont do Teamview - or anything like it to be fair. All files including J-Link firmware and drivers are posted in this thread. Just follow my instructions above. It is all pretty simple. If you are struggling with this I'd be careful of using the J-Link on anything expensive, it can brick things it is connected to...

Thats exactly what I had. Windows has picked the wrong driver instance. I deleted the driver, scanned for new hardware again and then manually chose the driver to install.

Your firmware string looks wrong in your commander screenshot. Maybe sort that first with a hex editor. Also, if have you definitely updated your J-Link with configurator before entering your serial number with commander it should be ok. If you update firmware with anything above 4.84 using commander as opposed to configurator it will fail.
The firmware in the post above looks unmodified according to the info in the sonsivri and dfrobot threads (bytes above the features string location are not FF'd out). Mine are but if they work for you - crack on.
There is obviously something in the > 4.96m dll that checks something we havent seen. Need to cut back on the beer and find it... Or even, extract the proper firmware from the dll and use that instead. Unless it is just a serial number issue after all...

I have use asliyucegsm (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/69432-asliyucegsm) firmware posted and had the above screen gui window screen shot posted above, i want to know if the above window image look okay, how do i test the device to be sure it can work now....

Your commander screenshot looks like the firmware from post #8. The asliyucegsm (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/69432-asliyucegsm) firmware has GDBFULL not GDBFull in its features string. Your J-Flash screenshot must be usung the latter. No matter. If commander and J-Flash work now without any clone issue then it should work. Just find a board with a chip that is supported by the J-Link, do some reading and connect up. BTW both firmwares are the same, the only differences are the bytes you should be altering yourself anyway.
