bmw scanner 1.4.0

Bought one of these units from china, comes with own software and says not to use from any other source . installed software when plug in interface with no car connected, wont let me go passed first screen is this because i need car connected, no lights are lit on interface, thanks for any help. :hmmmm2::hmmmm2:

the interface is powered by the obd socket, so no car no power no lights are lit on interface

:hmmmm2:I formatted hdd and installed fresh xp pro sp3, extracted files from disc that came with unit to desktop. One folder says BMWScan140 in there is one driver folder, bmwscan configuration settings and a picture of car next to it says BMWScan140. Also on desktop is BMW scanner v140 Install. Are there any special procedures to install this software, unit is chinese clone and i have read that interface can be damaged if you dont use software that comes with unit. Are there any tips in installing it as i dont want to damage interface. thanks in advance :hmmmm2:

Just install software as it is. FTDI drivers should be installed during the process. Do not use original software instead -as they say ,it will damage your interface .

Eveything seems great, thanks for all previous posts. Got working on x5 .Does anyone have a user manual as dont want to jump straight in and drown if you know what i mean, also could do with an inpa manual and a vag k+can commander full v3.0 manual also .thanks for all replies and keep up the good work d kaos

Don't have manuals , and I don't think you will find them easy.
BMW Scanner is quite intuitive,except for the flashing part.
Some info here :P.A.Soft BMW Scanner v1.4.0 - used parts reprogramming, fault codes reader, key chaining (http://www.bmw-scanner.com/?page=bmw-scanner_v140&lang=eng).
Again,do not use original software.
Inpa is, at first sight very easy to use,but you have to have a lot of knowledge about BMW to deal with errors. DIS, more difficult to use but takes you to the limit of testing and identifing problems.
About VAG CAN-COMMANDER - I will atach an pdf.

yes,it works on e46,e39 and e38 with the round diagnostic socket.

Hello Richard

If you get many error windows with "access violation at address ..." or "Privileged Instruction" when start the software, try this solution:

1. open regedit: Start => run => regedit => OK
2. delete PaSoft registry : Edit => Find, search for PaSoft and delete it
3. power interface with 12v or plug in to the car
4. start software BMWScan140.exe

Supplier told me that I can also use the latest software version, but I think is better to use the software from the cd

I instaled the software and when i opened the sistem give and error '' hardware faulty'' let me know, the interface is not conected on car , i only checked with the cable in usb and software opened. Let me know.
