Hi Guys

I have MultiDiag software and Actia PassThru VCI

Problem is the software will not accept the Actia VCI serial number

In the configuration if I enter a number it will accept, when I try to communicate to a car it pops up interface not registered and won't go any further

Anyone else had this problem or know a solution

Thanks for your help, tried your fix, didn't work

I did a fresh install of MultiDiag

Toyota Techstream I downloaded from here, tried it on a Toyota Avensis 2003, accessed all modules, live data was a bit hit and miss, kept losing comms

I read and erased DTC's no problem

As you say live data is "buggy"

As I was convinced that the Actia PassThru XS was genuine I have sent it to Actia UK

They have confirmed that it is genuine but intended to be used only as a Pass Through device for the US market, MultiDiag is not sold in the US

I am awaiting their decision, they may exchange it for an interface that will work with MultiDiag software here in the UK

The silly part is the only difference is the serial number internally it is identical to a UK interface

HI Pete, I got the similar problem with an interface bought from Germany, the solution is that I sent the interface to a company who has flashed this interface and then it held the serial I sent you in pm, since that time, all was fine.

Depends were the interface was manufactured

Interfaces made for the US market will not work with MultiDiag, this software is not sold in the US, only European market

Firmware upgrade is a solution but you need to find someone who can do it

I had mine reflashed but it wasn't cheap and took quite a long time

If you add up the shipping and reflashing costs it may not really be worth the bother

Actia won't reflash them, I tried, internal politics

i had the same problem when i bought a new interface from actia in america apparently there are only certain serial numbers compatible with multi diag software ,it will obviously work as a pass thru but not with multi diag software

I have the same problem - use to have my multidiag working fine with 2008 and serial number (clone one) no problem

Installed M Diag 2009 I recently onot 3 different laptops so far. Everytime I try to connect to car - its starts the recalib of interface then get interface not registered message.

Go and register it - have used clone S/n and then tried other S/n similar to exisiting one - always says successful but then always get the same message when trying to reconnect to car.

One thing I did notice is 90% through install it stops and the interface box flashes up and the install freezes until you just click exit on the Registration/language menu - Maybe if we enter serial number at this stage it will work - as oppose to entering the serial at anytime after install - which was fine to do on 2008 - but maybe not on 2009. ANyone any ideas - but will try to reinstall again and update.

WIll update after the 4th install and try this way - but will repair a HDD to ensure clean base first.

I think is designed to use another sw named "API Passthru+ XS for Workshop"

but it's useless without VCI

I totally AGree with Patrian, those interfaces on the link posted WILL never work with any version of MDA softwares; because simply their serials will be not accepted in the configuration menu.
Those interfaces can be flashed usning the blacklisted serial 070026; but I think the price for flashing it will be so high that buying a genuine one will be better deal.

For those who also have worries, just install the version III-2008 with the N? 070026 and upgrade to version III-2009 ..

hi mate you were told it would not work with actia multidiag as its a genuine actia pass thru xs from actia in america but the serial numbers from them are not supported by multi diag
but as a pass thru for other apps including tech stream ,volvo dice dvd 2010 a and global tis its fantastic along with many more applications

actia sell thes in different countries and you need to ask if its multi diag compatible as they sell ones that the serial number is not recognised by multidiag ,whether this is your prioblem mate i dont know ,but i bought a couple from the us actia office ,i think it was in texas unsure for 750 dollars plus shipping they work great as a pass thrugh and are genuine but multidiag wont accept serial number as it was 7****** something my original multi diag from uk is 061****

hi mate you were told this when you bought it that it was a us one that was only availiable to be used as passthru ,and it would not work with multidiag ,as thats what i bought it for but then tried the same and it does not accept serial number ,thats why it was sold as just a pass thru and cheap might i add ,they then informed me it was not compatible with multidiag as serial number not in database .so unless you can modify software or serial then its just a pass thru ,that works on loads of main dealer software

Yes Passthru XS will work with several brands, but these may require some special modifications to enable passthru to work.

BMW DIS (with modifications)
Mercedes Xentry (with modifications)
Opel Global-Tis (no modification needed)
Peugeot Planet (flashing of firmware required)
Citroen Lexia (flashing of firmware required)
Toyota Techstream (no midification needed, however software is still under development and has many issues with various system's) especially older models, even dealer has these issues for 2008 onwards I think it works best.
Volvo Vida/Dice (rumoured to be working) I will ask AJ_1 about this.

I am sure there are many more that users have managed to get working using Passthru XS those above I know work, maybe others will share there experiences on what else works and what is needed to make it possible, most often share this information privately and request it stays that way so don't expect too much.

There is also confusion over USA V Euro version's of this interface as the firmware I believe is different so if Euro version worked for say Volvo Vida using passthru it may not work for USA interfaces.

Opel Global-Tis (for flashing only) will work 100% but needs activated for software to work, Toyota Techstream 100% working with no modifications.

For your Info the S/N that you used, it is 1 "Unique" m8... lol

You need to use for your China Clone VCI, MOD Version about MDO and to Register with 1 "Classic" SPECIFIC S/N!!! ;)

Also IF you read some Posts here on the forum, you will discover that existing 1 Year Newer MOD Version on the Web (MDO I-2010) and working LIKE A CHARM!!! :)

you have to change the SW you're using, yours doesn't accept this serial in its database...
Search about a special "Moded" version, and your serial will be accepted.

What notebook?? Did you try??
Only Panasonic, IBM, and some toshiba have original serial port.

As I was convinced that the Actia PassThru XS was genuine I have sent it to Actia UK

They have confirmed that it is genuine but intended to be used only as a Pass Through device for the US market, MultiDiag is not sold in the US

I am awaiting their decision, they may exchange it for an interface that will work with MultiDiag software here in the UK

The silly part is the only difference is the serial number internally it is identical to a UK interface
