Hi guys. Been on another forum and cant get a help/answer to this so hoping a genius on here can make themself a hero
I bought a Zgemma H2H a few weeks back and after some teething troubles and help from others, got it up and running. However since the box was turned on at the weekend, its coming up with boot on the display. I dont know whats happened but after reading other forums i thought that i may have needed reflashed. Ive flashed various boxes before so this wasnt too difficult but ive flashed this thing with every different h2h firmware known to man yet after a minute or so of the FLSH appearing on the display, it goes back to boot and remains there. Ive been on this for days and im at the end of my tether with it. Since i had a similar problem flashing the box originally, can it maybe be a faulty receiver?

Hopefully I won't insult you with this answer; but have you tried original Openatv firmware from their download site
http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/nightly/index.php?open=zgemmah2h
Remember if it does install the firmware the zgemma will boot into a blank screen but you will know it's working as the countup will go to a 0-100
Also when flashing original Openatv firmware the process requires you to press the standby button when 'USB' is displayed on the front panel.

Yeah id already flashed it with both the earliest and latest versions on Zgemmas website just in case. Im not even getting as far as the 1-100 mate, it goes back to boot shortly after the flash
ETA - ive tried all of the different firmwares for the H2H on the zgemmas page

Try another USB stick Drive to flash from also make sure there's no micro SD card in the box and perhaps try booting with no internet or satellite cables attached, see if that makes a difference.

:) Did all that as well. 4 different usbs two of which are zgemma friendly. Theres no sd card in the slot either. Ive flashed with both internet and cables in/out
Im beginning to think its a faulty receiver

You can try and change the resolution of your tv to 720 or 1080i and see if that will cure the problem

Think that's me out. The only other thing to advise is, as it sounds like you haven't had the box long, if bought off eBay contact the seller to ask for an exchange or refund then get another.

Ive messaged the seller already. This is the second time ive had this problem with the box in the few weeks ive had it. Even if i hadve fixed the problem, i would send it back anyway. Cant keep having to flash the box every couple of weeks

If the seller doesn't reply or tries to brush you off with some kinda excuse just raise a case with eBay, a Zgemma should last longer than a few weeks.

Is there any other way to do a factory reset these boxes?

Sounds like a dodgy bootloader, you shouldn't have to update then separately as they are usually updated with the image but or wouldn't hurt to try the zgemma site to see if a latest bootloader is available then flash it in the same way you would an image but it takes a fraction of the time to flash. Then just flash a fully supported image like open atv and see where you go from there. ......Make sure it's the correct bootloader

Any links to the one i would need mate?
ETA - This is the only one i can find http://www.zgemma.tv/index.php?folder=WmdlbW1hLVN0YXItSDIvQm9vdGxvYWRlc g==
Would i be safe flashing with this?

NO bootloader but here's a thought........how are you placing the boot files on the usb.

Im not sure how you mean? Im unzipping the packed files to the usb root.
Zgemma
H3
All 4 or 5 of the files

Can I have a guess that you are placing the h3 folder on the root of the usb if this is the case you need to put the zgemma folder on the root which will contain the h3 folder which in turn contains the boot files. try unzipping first then making sure the it is zgemma>h3>files then copying zgemma folder to root of usb

No, zgemma goes straight to the root mate

I still prefer to extract to pc then copy over. the old vu+ clones didn't like it when you extracted direct to usb and often wouldn't flash and the zgemma are derivatives from the vu clones although are now a brand in there own right and not clone's of anything else

Right, tried flashing it there by extracting to PC and dragging over. Same outcome

You are using the rear usb port with no other usb in there I presume

:) Yeah although i knew that would be a question that id be asked! Up until i had problems flashing it before, i didnt even realise there was one at the front behind the flap!

Looks like it. To be fair, ive been quite lucky with my boxes over the years. Through all the numerous Starviews, Kryptviews, Proteks etc, this is probably the first time i can recall a faulty set.
Dont know whether to ask for a replacement or a refund and buy from another supplier

So would a faulty bootloader just wipe the box even after id flashed it and had it up and running? Also, how long do you guys leave it after flashing it for it to boot and load up?

Not usually but a fault at low level on the boot loader could indicate a corrupt section on the flash which would do what your describing hence the get a replacement. No point messing any more with a sub 100 quid box that doesn't have an rs232 port. It can take while for first boot

The first time i flashed it, it went on to the boot screen and stayed there so i just turned off the tv. Good couple of hours later i had 5 a sides so went out and when i got home from that, it had booted up and was functional. Mustve taken at least 3 hours!

Either/or as long as you get a work H2.H , it would be less hassle if the original seller just sent you a replacement.

TBH sound like your Zgemma was f@cked. With the H series of Zgemma after flashing, you switch on 'Boot' shows on the front panel for a couple of seconds then a count up from 0 to 100 is displayed, stopping a few times around 49 and 79 to load the EPG and other things. Once you get to 100 your default channel is displayed unless you've flashed an unmodified original firmware then a blank screen is displayed until you scan for channels.

I messaged the supplier after a couple of days saying i had this problem but with me getting it up and running, i refrained from sending it back. This time however, it seems there is no other option. Tv from my android box for the next week or so :palm2:

Sounds like you've corrupted the bootloader which needs a JTAG to fix. I've not seen the JTAG files for the H series, only the earlier series. Strictly speaking this is not a hardware problem, but if you make a case with eBay/Paypal, they always side with the buyer anyway, even when it's not justified.

Ive had a message from the seller saying he will issue a full refund once it arrives at him. Sent it first class recorded so he should get it tomorrow hopefully. Ive bought a replacement H2H from another supplier so should be up and running again shortly
