Got a 2006 treg that is not recognising the key.

Has a code 01176 - Key Implausible signal

I was told car went to a shop for suspension work, been sitting there over a year and now this happened after sitting.

Should I just try making a new key or should I be look elswhere, EIS or steering lock maybe?

Thanks,

Tagne

Did you try to read the key first to see if she is ok ?
Read it with tagkeytool or cn900 .
Did you try to test the antena wiring and antena coil ??
Does the remote work ? did you check battery of key maybe after a year of sitting the battery is KO !

Good luck :)

Read the key to see if it is working.
Check the key in the door lock to see if it's working. If not working probably the the is not from the car and it was changed.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I have not had time too look at this car yet, I might have a look tomorrow.
The key I tried to read quickly with zedbull, reads it fine so it should be ok, key opens the door so it belongs to the car.

I will check out the antenna ring....but does touareg have the separate ring or is it part of EIS?

was the garage testing out key programming equipment maybe they deleted the keys?

If you have VVDI / AVDI etc I would try reading info from ecu then just try learning the key

The antenna ring is part of the EIS, you can replace the EIS without having to code it to the car. We have had a few of these where the dash stays dark even when you put the key in the ignition... After scanning with either VCDS or AVDI, we find ESL and steering column errors, do a mass clear DTCs, and the dash lights up and the car starts... The 2004-2007 Turdeggs are VWs answer to how to build a car laden with electronics that don't work.... Take a glance at the TSB list... If it's not the longest for any VW model, it's got to be in the top five...

Finaly had time last week to go check it out again. This car has a continental kessy module and none of my tools can make a key for it by dump (AVDI, VVDI, tmpro2).

What is the solution for continental modules, which tool can do them.

Read ECU pin and program with VCDS.

Will that work when no original key to turn ignition on? Guess I will have to try, i got the pin from ECU.

Hello.
yes (amigokola) you are right %100, let me say in my garage i need this function too, when lost all keys, but i think http://autodevice.net/kessy-prog.html#!prettyPhoto . this tool to don't work on all SW version some yes and some no = continental, this what i hear. and about avdi ohh long years no solution for that, and about 1 years ago i meet 1 person he contact direct by phone with vvdi engineer, and i send the kessy continental dump by email, and till now no solution to. so just we have 1 tool for now kessy-prog he do the job for all keys lost.

You must bridge PIN 16 with PIN 1 in cars OBD port if not help must try jump fuses to have 15+ on ECU than you can communicate and read PIN. You have communication with Kessy without ignition. Turn high beam, hazard lights and turn on/off lights and press brake and you should be able to program key.

Yes, you need to hold brake for 30 Sec , and turn Hazards On, to wake up Terminal 15.
After this you can access 05-start authorization.

And to read PIn form ECU as amigokola (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/458098-amigokola) said , or pull ECU out and read eeprom.

Here is what I know about 2006 VW Touareg.

In USA, AVDI claim "only must read PIN and add key to car" if have working key. I tried to do one 2006 Touareg spare key once.

Let us just say, the car did not start for two months after! This was back in 2011 or something....long time ago.....I did not know the dangers behind AVDI.

Now I know....and I will not touch these car by OBD ever. EEPROM only. So if have continental, sorry customer, dealer for you.

For spare keys it doesn't matter, you read 6 bytes / pin code from ECU.

It only matters if you can not read the info from ECU or on lost key jobs where the tool can't use the existing key to get the 7th byte.

You dont have to read 6 bytes in 2006 Touareg only PIN and adapt key with VCDS.

I have done with VCDS all key lost with out any problem on vw phaeton and bentley continental and Touareg .I do not know what Kessy was, I only read Pin form ECU and use VCDS to program key.
But you must buy key from dealer precoded to VIN.

Hello.
Dear (amigokola) 1) first time i try to re-adapt by pin using vcds for continental kessy: 2) second time i read 6bytes from ecu by avdi after i try found the 7th byts from his working remote key,and after when avdi prepare a new transponder with all the 7 cs bytes, so here i adapt this transponder by pin via vcds. = Kessy continental.

From my very little experience 7bytes of cs are ecu's dump.
