I help in getting the license navigation. You can activate the navigation in your system SYNC2 .
You only need to activate the navigation using the program FORSCAN
in the APIM :)

people ask what I need to activate the navigation?
1. update Sync2 system to version 3.8.15128
US ONLY : HERE (http://ivsu.binaries.ford.com/swparts/Gen2v38build15128updatepackageNARev2.zip)
For EUROPE : HERE (http://ivsu.binaries.ford.com/swparts/Gen2v38build15128updatepackageEULangpack3Rev4.zip)
2. with Forscan Extended License you have to change APIM Navigation configuration (7d0-01-02. Byte 1 = 00 No Nav. Byte 1 = 04 with Nav);
3. install license (send me PM)
4. to work you need to have the map A (x) for the United States and F (x) for Europe

was told its dealership only hence they wanted ?130 to update mine at the last service.. told them to do one lol

It gives a good guide as to how to do this and what files and hardware are required.

I have a 16 plate S Max and plan to update my sync 2.
Be good to know when you've done this how you got on. Where are you based?

I'm in uk will this still work for uk models?Likewise I'm in the UK too. I presume it will work from what I've read and researched as the sync 2 seems to be the same irrelevant of the country.

Only thing to be wary of is that it may invalidate your warranty, mine finishes end of March so I'm probably going to do it then.

If you do go ahead, would really like to hear how you got on.

Some instructions mention changing the IPC to show navigation directions through the Forscan program when reprogramming the APIM.

I have also read you need a navigation licence file, some charge for this?

Would be good if some one could post a concise set of instructions that definitely work and confirm exact requirements.

Hi All

Decided to go for the activation

My sync 2 is 3.08.15128 (tel:30815128).EA.10_PRODUCT

Connected with Foescan and all looked good. Found the APIM bit and got a list of items with one being Sat Navigation and it stating that is was disabled. I clicked on this and then got the option to enable it which I did and then saved this. When I got to the screen with the 7DO type characters the sat navigation showed as 7DO-01-02 043C 0806 COE8. Next to this were the options restore or write.
Seeing the "04" I presumed that clicking the sat navigation enable in the previous screen has changed it from 00 to 04.
I then logged of from Forscan and add the PNG file and unlocked this and then tried to install the syncmyride files at which point I got the message "bad installation files".

Can anyone please advise whether I have actually changed the APIM or need to go back in and do this again. Do I have a problem with the syncmyride files? Just put these into the root directory on my usb stick, if the sat nav update didn't work would these still install.

I used the following link and everything worked (eventually!!!), you do have to remember to open the patch up in the display as a screensaver and then preview it but if you do that it works. (ps I had already bought my official maps on a SD card for £25 off ebay).

ps the fordownersclub link is good but only if you have lots of patience and a few hours, if not i'd follow the above as I wish i'd seen his forum before I started messing around.

Got mine all sorted and up and running. Had a little issue with files being picked up by the Sync system but then all worked and the nav is up and running.

One question, can anyone advise about how the traffic system works in the Sat Nav? Does it work for the "hacked" version or is something missing that is required that doesn't come with this type of install?
I did some research and am led to believe that in the UK, traffic should be picked up from radio broadcasts and updated in the sat nav, does anyone know?
