Hi,

before trying to mod file, have tried to check / change preheating module? maybe reason why yours glowplugs brun....

Exactly... 7V plugs have much lower resistance so even short 12V pulse of heating will burn power stage in module... This isn't softqare, but hardware issue, i think

I have a mechanic friend who has exactly the same problem. He put new plugs in. Didn't realise they are only 7v and burned them out in 2 days. Renault said they can program the voltage change for ?65 so it can't be that big a job. Does anyone know which equipment will do this? if it is cheap enough I will buy it myself.

OFF TOPIC:-

Jeep and Scum of the Earth (TM) same silly idea, they just
sell "standard" glow relay & 12 volt plugs.

sounds odd, why not just put 12volt plugs instead?

Hi,

I am not sure you already solved it, but you have to change on the Renault Clip the heating mode from Slow (the standard one on that engine - black ring glow plugs) to Fast - white ring.
Without that, 2 months and the glow plug will be burned.
On the clip, after diagnosing, injection module, there is Repair top menu where you can reprogram some things, and glow plugs are there too.

No need to modify ecu.

Thanks Luke. Just ordered Renault Com which I've been assured is as good as clip so will try when it arrives.

You need to change settings with clip if already settings exist. Some older version of the firmware of ecu did not have that possibility yet ... so you have to update ecu firmware first.

Update!! Bought CAN Clip and Reprog. Option to change glow plugs didn't appear so had to update ECU. Some **** unplugged power supply while programming ECU with Can Clip/Re-Prog so Can Clip stopped programming. Now I've got no Communication with Injection ECU. Any ideas anyone??

what ecu is in it ? edc16 or sid ? both can read by bdm read and you can add original file , did you save any ecu info like software and hardware numbers

EDC16C36. Saved flash backup with kess first but can't detect ECU to write back. Kess and CAN Clip can't detect VIN in ECU now via OBD. I've read the ECU EEProm 95320 direct and the VIN is clearly visible but I've tried reading flash via BDM with KTag and Galletto v54 and can't communicate. I've never done BDM before so not sure I'm doing it correctly but I followed instructions. I've come to 2 conclusions.

Either EEProm is stuck in program mode (that's where vin is) or ECU is spiked and dead.

write number ecu and upload flash, I do for you eep file to teach, you write and engine start

You can open ecu and write back your ori flash (readed by kess) with ktag via BDM. I cannot believe that eprom is damaged. Processor does not load eprom data because system does not start in cause of false flash data. It is same, your personal computer cannot load game cd without operating system..
If you cannot get access via BDM to flash, you can desolder flash and buy new flash chip. Or, if you own programmer, erase flash chip, solder back and write with ktag. If this also not work, your ecu is bricked and you need other ecu. Or make BGA job and replace processor...

ECU was spiked. I have now replaced it but I'm back to square one. I have a charger connected at 14.5 volts but can clip is only reading 12.5 so won't let me program the ECU. It is snap on charger with program/flash mode. I've measured voltage with meter and it says 14.5 but can clip still only says 12.5v. Any ideas?

Can anyone give me an idea how to do the 11v to 7v procedure with CAN Clip please? Thanks. Dave.

Hi, do you have solved ? I have same problem. After discharge battery ecu broke glow plugs. Relay and glow is new, but ecu calculate with slow glow and in car is right fast glow. In clip donot see what glow you have coded. In repair menu is only VIN, code injectors to set ...., but glow plugs setup is not there.
What with this ? Have anybody solved.
Thank you.

Hi
You've already tried disconnecting the battery for some time.
In addition, the reprogramming code generated by the clip is required.
With this code only the reprogramming code can be obtained through renault net
With the vin number and the code generated by the clip I can give you the reprogramming code
thank you
