I have a W204 C220 CDI without the original ECU. The car came with an ECU from a scrap yard which was in boot mode as if someone tried and failed to program it.
I found what looked like the correct files (Code and Data CFF). I flashed the ECU with Vediamo and there was no mismatch and the ECU was no longer in boot mode.
The dealer then did the coding. The car starts and runs fine, but after a few seconds it goes into a very subtle limp mode and the engine management light comes on. The fault it give is for EGR incorrect flow.
Eventually I found that the CFF files I used were for a car with DPF, but this car does NOT have a DPF! So even though it is correctly coded for NO DPF, the ECU gets confused and throws the fault for the EGR.
I have programmed another used ECU and transferred the coding and it does exactly the same.
I have searched and searched and I couldn't find the correct CFF files with no DPF.

Can anyone help with a good CFF files? Or even just the software numbers so I can try to find the files? Even an OBD read of a good ECU could help.

Bump.

A new ECU is very expensive at it is silly to buy a brand new one when I have two working used ECUs which just need to be programmed with the correct data to fix the car.
