Hi, it all started when the cruise control turned off when I pressed the deceleration button. I bought an op-com and thought that the cim module needs resetting. so I did that, then the car would not start, found I needed to program the keys. Now the cruise control turns off whenever it wants an I get

Source Address: CIM
B3794 - Switch Cruise Control Circuit Malfunction
(08) - Not present
U2103 - No Communication with CAN-Bus (High Speed)
(00) - Not present

Source Address: AIRBAG SDM
U2139 - Invalid Data from CIM (Steering Column Module)
(00) - Not present

Source Address: PAS
U2139 - CAN-Bus No Communication with CIM (Steering Column Module)
(00) - Not present

and this one started to show about the time I reset the cim module, don't know if it's related:

Source Address: IPC
U2105 - CAN-Bus No Communication with ECM (Engine Control Module)
(7F) - Not present

Can someone tell me if I need to reset/program other ecus after a cim reset with opcom, and if so how should I do this?

Thanks

Your car is <2005? Vectra C?
ABS Light and ESP (if you have) have illuminate without reason?
I think your problem is CIM, a very common problem on Vectra C/SIGNUM <2005.
Your only hope is replace CIM. No repair kit avaible.
I hope i'm wrong, but....

PS: In attach you will find 2 pdf regarding your problem. I hope will help.

yes, it's august 2004... thanks for the info.

There are some things I don't understand about the op-com. When it sais reset module, what does this reset do? does it erase the memory of the module and then you need to reprogram? because when I reset the cim it did erase the keys but I don't remember me reprogramming the cim module. the abs light and airbag does not light up. the only problem is with the cruise control.

hi m8
just had my cim replaced on my vectra c after doing the normal checks.
check and clean the abs plug
check the abs sensor
and check all plugs from the cim to the control modules.
but if all that is wrong is the cruise control. check the clutch return spring .
best way to do this is that when the cruise control cut out hold the clutch pedal up and see if the cruise control work then.
if it that then you will need to get the spring repair kit from vx only about a tenner

The CIM is the Gateway for this vehicle, if you will reset the CIM it means
1- this module is ready for replace
2- this module is ready for reprogramming
try to reprogram the module, and see if the communication codes of the Can-bus will vanish or not if these codes vanish and everything is ok check curise control programming on CIM, IPC, ECM
if not then measure the signal ,and replace the defective ECU

Problem is not SOFTWARE but Hardware ok?
they tried to explain before.

if you replace with new you have to code and learn keys + pin.

if you replace with secondhand just copy 93C66

Before the new CIM is fitted, first note the following:

Security Code
V.I.N.
Mechanical key number
Variant encoding
High Speed CAN configuration
Mid Speed CAN configuration
Low Speed CAN Configuration
Run a full DTC scan and save the results
Make sure that the V.I.N. in the other control devices consistent with the car
Reset the old CIM

Install the new CIM

Configure the CAN-High, Low and Middle configurations
Program V.I.N. and mechanical key number in the new CIM
Program Immobiliser function, (choose CIM installed)
Program the available transponder keys to the new CIM
Reset the following devices:
IPC
REC
BCM
PDM
DDM
Switch the ignition off and wait at least 15 seconds
Program the security code in the following steering devices:
IPC
REC
BCM
PDM
DDM
Configure the variant coding of the new CIM
The final step is to calibrate the steering angle sensor

Desolder 93c66 from your older module and put in the other one.. as cammy25 said above.

First of all, if you reset any controller using op-com or tech 2, then all that happens is that the security code is erased, the original settings and configurations remain the same.Second hand cims can be reset and reconfigured, the only controller that cant be reconfigured is airbag.cim takes a fair bit of configuring,i use tech 2 and and only work on VX , but still have bother at times.

Mechanical number is something like Z1234 or S1234 an is located on carpass or dealer

Security code is just a code of 4 numbers, also located on carpass.

just being playing with opcom to get know it totally cleared everything reset etc and then coded it all back up and car fired up first time so its dead easy to use i think cim coding was in body bit its there and dead esy to use just use a bit common sense when doing it and do it methodical, ive just taught myself on a 2006 car so i could try to fix a 2004 cdti sri i got, thats got u2105 bus error. cim units at vx are ?120 odd plus vat ive just bought one off ebay brand new for ?56 delivered theres one more at ?60 on there.
hope this helps somehow just to have the confidance to give it a go

I'm having a problem with a 2003 Signum showing the steering warning, tc warning and the indicators don't cancel.

If I got a secondhand cim, do you need to get the setting off first so it can be reprogrammed? Can the car be driven after replacing to get it done at the dealers?

TIA

Richard

by what ive learnt on here is that the cim has to be matched to car however the 93c66 chip can be changed over if you were near sunderland i could do it for you as i taught my self last night how to do it,

YES!!!!! You can use "Second Hand" CIM, but 1st you need to "Reset" BOTH of them..... :)
Then you can Programming your "NEW" Second Hand CIM with your Car.....

Cheers!!!!!

In addition to the above I was also required to reset and program the engine ECU (until I did this the car would display the padlock symbol as soon as the ignition was switched on).

Once reset and programmed I chose the option CIM and Engine ECU in the immobiliser function screen on Tech 2 and hey ho there was life in the beasty once again.

we have a problem on vectra 52 plate, car would not start, initially cruise control would cut out and then a few spanner icons in the dash, this winter in Lancashire 2010 and the car would not start, RAC man thought it was starter motor, on a 2nd visit for trailing purposes it was found that an auto electrician was need, tried allan price in Blackburn, they found the fault to be on a CIM module behind the steering airbag, which cannot be repaired nor replaced second hand, a new module was needed at the cost of just under ?300 and nearly a ?150 for diagnostic and fitting, and the car costed ?1550, is this worth to repalce you may ask, i think NOT, tecnician asked me to research perhaps a place that would perhaps repair CIM modules, but no joy so far.. for now the technician cleaned the contacts on the cim module and replaced it back into the console of the steering, the car now starts intermittently and have been advised to tap the steering wheel or move the wipers up and down , and that should do the trick temporarily... thats ALL !!!!
