I changed the MAP sensor, DtC comes straight back when engine at idle or stays off if just ignition on, wiring at sensor plug looks OK, anyone know what is likely to be my problem? (new sensor gen vauxhall) haven't checked anything else, got van coming back next week, any help appreciated

Possibly wiring problem. Can you read live data?
What are the pressures at engine off, key on?

is it a y17dt (izuzu) or the z17cdti (gm) engine

guessing that you have 3 wires ground 5 volts o/p

put your volt meter on 20 volt scale and 'permatae' (think that's the word, nice word any way) and see if from swapping wires around on your meter you can work out that one wire gives no reading, close eyes and yank on it and hope it snapps 4 inches from the map sensor end.

Other possibility is ecu, if need be lie and tell the customer the map sensor (old) fkcued the ecu, but you needed to try an new map to eliminate it, give us your money and ~~~~ off.

I only have basic elm interface using Vauxcheck, I'm very new to diagnostics, have always farmed out jobs like this

Without taking the piss or anything, but 99.999999999999999999999 % sure you need to look and do what i said with the map sensor.

Just so you don't blow the shit out of any thing,(exept a fuse!) grab a car (any car with H4 headlights) and put the head lights on DIP and PRETEND it's the map sensor on the problem car, whilst you are checking it and you have decided what voltage is what, put the lights on MAIN beam, recheck and pretend this is somebody elses car that is working, this might or might not help you to learn. Headlight 12 volt map = 5 volt (your meter mite say anything from 1 volt to 12 volt on the map)

You would need Op-com.

Meat 4 brain m8, what kind of stuff goes on in your head ??? talk about riddles!!, going to get it back in next week and look for broken wire 4" from connector plug as I think that's what you are saying is most likely

The concern is (no offence) is if you have no idea what you are doing good chance you can fcuk the ecu. Besides if you have no idea then you might never find the answer.

Hence 'testing' on a headlight plug, you will 'understand' about the differant voltages without causing to much damage!

I don't have an interface for that m8, I only have elm and vag com, if I get stuck I have a mate with snap on diagnostic stuff who I can get to check live data etc, but if it's simply a matter of fixing a broken wire as mutton-brain suggests, I'd rather have a go at sorting it myself,

I'm able to use a voltmeter mate

No offence intended or anything, just seen it before where M-H-M supply and fit 100000000's of products, no problems and everyone we sell supply only comes back 'faulty'.

Just don't let your meter probes touch

"mutton-brain" Thanks when i get banned for being naughty, got a new user name ready, thanks like it

So I shouldn't power probe each wire with 3 phase to see which one doesn't cause smoke to come from the ecu to find the broken wire then lol

Basically yes, you should (in theroy) get an answer on all three wires with relation to battery voltage, something like 12, 5, 7, not 0 volts.

Not often you get a straight answer!

My opinion is :
By OP-Com interface and download Opel Tis software from this forum and you can open your own Opel-service-workshop! :viking:

Update, contacted customer to get it back in, he has used it over the weekend and the mil has stayed off and it has not gone back into limp mode, strange that the fault code clears and comes back immediately, well he's happy so ~~~~ it if it aint broke don't need to fix it lol

some times things take time to 'notice' they have been fixed, mainly bmw x5 air suspenshion, up to 24 hrs to notice!

thaks for update. Hope you mentioned money and ~~~~ off in the same sentrence?

I have similar at present on a 2007 Astra with the Z17DTH engine, however it is very intermittent, owner can go a few days where car is perfect(as it was when he and I tried it, goes like a rocket) but will go into limp home and not rev above 3,500 and puts up code P0105, of course live data , wiring connections etc are all good, so not sure if maybe EGR valve is jamming sometimes or maybe swirl flaps sticking, he drives it pretty quickly so not prone to dawdling about, so not sure of my next move, thanks, Jim,:ciao:
