i have been given a box but it has no name on it so i dont know where to start to flash it. it has a sti-5518 chip inside and a samsung tuner, on the front panel there are no buttons just a window about a inch across with a green led on it, it also has 9 small dents on the right spaced like 3 up and three across. it has also got a viewing card slot on the left hand side behind a drop down door, its about the size of a freeview box and it is silver in colour. anybody any ideas? your help is much appreciated, thanks in advance

take some pics and post them on here - someone might recognise it
ok guys will do, and it is definately a cable box cos ive had a bit of a play and seen the v.m. channels. thanks
the guy i got it off said it is a starview box but im a bit sceptical, can anybody confirm that it isnt a starview box, if so ill have to borrow my mates camera and post a couple of thumbnails.
all starviews have a name on left top of box
starview 1 = starview
starview 2 = the box
starview 3 = the box super
starview 4 = the box super usb
can you watch sky box office movies on the box super and do you select them.
u can only view what ur provider gives u, the red button does not work as in no talkback so u cannot order what u want to see.
@mdt have you taken any pics of this box yet.. have a look at this link and see if it looks like your receiver, it does have the chipset you speak of but says nothing about the tuner make etc. Before we can progress this we need to decide what box you have..
the box Cable Receiver - Goodvb Technology Co.,Ltd Satellire Receiver
If it is not that one then please type in 'cable receiver' into google and then select 'images', go through the images until you find an image of the your box then come and advise us...
here is a photo of my box
