ok get it from here Windows Vista driver for prolific chip USB Serial Adapters this will sort out your vista problems with the Maplins Serial to usb lead

i use vista home premium on my computer and
i have a usb to serial converter from maplin
and it came with a driver disc, but i did'nt it

i have the same problem with the nikkai usb serial convertor on vista but i can not download the drivers in this forum as i havent posted so here goes

the maplins on says on box its vista compatible but it aint.

but if you googel it it aint hard to find the Chinese manufactures web site and download drivers.

m8, if you had read around the forum you would be aware that you need to make one useful post (a good intro post is a good start) then wait for 15 minutes for ther server to update your profile with download access.

Hi, will this driver work with any USB to Serial adaptor? I bought one online & it came with a disc, but I'm still having trouble using it with my laptop. It will connect to box, but runs slowly & then fails updates.

Looks like a big ommision by Maplins.. Many thanks for posting this solution. hopefully I can start using my new GPS
