the most important thing when installing a dish is to make sure that the pole/bracket is 100% perfectly straight all the way around it if using USALS, not so improtant if setting up by deseqc but USALS is much much easier to set up.

what satellite you got it on in the pics? as it doesnt look the right angle for 1w

Thats just it
I dont have it on any yet
Ive just lashed it up on the roof
Fixed it in a very heavy box,Can be moved by 2 peeps
And now ime going to attach the meter
And kick off by pointing it in the Dirrection of the sky dishes
I had a go last week, after some reading on here
But couldent pick up Jack
Am in no hurry,Just gettin ready for when cable pull the plug
Got a Digiquest 8000sci,With Dragon card and reader
I know its not up to much
But am more interested in just setting up the dish
Then will invest in some tackle the dish has a moter on and is 1 metre 10
That does seem to be ok.................Paul

From the pics I could see the front but couldn't tell how it is fixed in the box. As krazylegs says you need the pole to be truly vertical most of us usually start off tuning the sat box and dish by pointing it to 1W Thor, BBC World News. The reason for pointing the dish in this direction is to catch the satellite arc

The Sky dishes all point to 28.2E so you need to point the about 28.2 to your right if you were standing behind your dish to get 1W thor. Not only do you need to get the direction right but you also need to get the elevation right. The digisat meter should beep when you find something but I found it quite useless. I asked the wife to shout out to me from the tv if anything changed on tv while fiddled with the dish. Are you using usals and have you entered your lat/long in your box?

I do not know anything about the box you have but I am sure that you would need to put something in your box about your location. You do realise you won't get any of the Sky subscription channels. If you can get hold of compass that would help you get the direction for 1W than you would need to move the dish up and down slowly to see if you can pick up Thor.

Okay..goto your receiver..enter the motor setup menu..choose usals as your positioner type..then in your long/lat type in your geographical location..
Thereafter on your box send your dish to 28.2e..once you have done this disconnect the wire from the motor to the box and make i direct connection from box to lnb but in the middle connect your sat finder..now swing your whole system around So it looks as if your dish is pointing in the same direction as the sky dishes..now play around and try for signal

The numbers that krazylegs gives will also need to configured on your moto and dish.
