sorry to thread-jack here lads, I'm interested in obtaining one of these boxes and having a play about on the sat scene. How difficult are they to set up? Do they send you "adequate" english instructions shipped with the box? or can I rely on you guys for help? Also are you better with a Nanoxx or a Protek?

protek and nanoxx are exactly the same with same software..
if you are ok with computers ie,,unzipping files and putting them
into a folder, then yes its easy...but if not you may struggle..
once set up they are easy to maintain with soft updates going straight to box with the press of a button...

ps the protek is cheaper selling for 109 at wizard satellite, and also looks better than the nanoxx

Unzipping etc is no problem.... it's where to find the files in the first place thats the trouble!! I take it you have to set up a network with the box then transfer a few "choice" files before configuring to the net? Then it's plain sailing?

there is 3 pieces of software you need on the box for it to connect to the server,,and it will come with some already on but not the latest versions...if the bootware on the box is 1.33,,,or 1.34,,,you can use the webloader to put the bits of software directly onto your box from your computer this is easiest way...but if b/ware is lower than 2 mentioned, you will have to use a null modem cable to transfer s/ware across...
the latest s/ware needed is openly available at a couple of sites and i can pm you the links if you decide you need them....

and as iv said earlier once its set up you can then auto update by pressing a button on the remote....
and there is room also to add 3 different newcamd servers as well if you like..

yeah i`v tried mine on newcamd and it works fine...
if you are trying a free newcamd off a dodgy site dont bother
they never work.....but the pay ones do....if its sky uk your
wanting dont bother unless your happy with picture freezes every 10 seconds....it will never run properly on this box...
