It won't solve your problem because the information on the banned console is stored in the consoles NAND flash memory on the motherboard.

It's not the DVD drive which is banned and the console with RROD will have a faulty motherboard so that would be no use.

no becouse aslong as you change thermal paste and change heatsinks then the rrod consle would work and then its a diffrant nand chip so would not be banned

But its not a long-term fix, there is no telling how long the repair will last. It could be day / weeks / hours even.

You could go that route but eventually it will happen again.

Be easier and more sense in the long run to buy another second hand console on the cheap, sell your banned one - even look at gamecopyworld.com - they do a trade.

ok so basically if I wanted this to work properly I would have to buy another working xbox or even fix the rrod xbox first then do the gutswap, right?

    This post is confusing.

If you are expecting to be banned then your box will get banned. By doing a gutswap will do nothing to unban you. As it is the chip on the board that holds the information

If you mean repair the rrod console then by all means do it as a backup box obviously the chip on this will not be banned.

Also you can take any part from an old broken box or banned box and replace into a new/old working console providing the drive that comes from the banned/broken console is flashed with a key from the working console.

This post is confusing in all aspects.

If your not banned yet stay offline and flash when new firmware comes out.

Fix the rrod for safety just in case.

I'm sorry for all the questions ,but what about the people that go to walmart and buy a console and switch the internal parts with there old one then return it? (once again I'm sorry I'm being confusing it just feels like I'm getting conflicting arguments from several people everywhere)

If you are going to swap the parts swap the cases .

    This is the sensible option.

So your new console will have an old case (so what).

I don't agree with doing stuff like this but each to their own I suppose.
