patching

hi , i am new to all this techno stuff , have just set up a motorised system
with Technomate 5400 + 80cm dish , will the dish be big enough to pick up the footi on the german channels and also will i be able to pick up ART sport with a card , i believe my receiver needs patching but can enyone tell me which is the right one to download , and where to find an idiots guide on how to go about it.
