Make sure you are using the latest Dreamup and also you could try flashing it with the erase image to clean up the box. Try flashing with a normal image after the erase image.

have had this and was seriously peed with an eagle took it back and rattled on about flashing the wrong software and they didnt want to know and all i got was excuses,i hadnt and disposed of it in the bin.any future custom with that dealer went in the bin with it.no guessing who i am talking about, its all to easy to blame software these days as they claim it isnt covered by warranty.

has this box always been like this,it could be a faulty serial to board lead try swapping with a working box.use a serial port not a usb converter.

Do you have another box that you can reflash or even just connect with to make sure your PC and cable are working ok?

Then you would know if the serial port on the box is faulty or not.

Another way to check is open hyperterminal and configure it like the attach picture. Connect the null modem cable and power on the box and you should see some output on the screen. If the box boots up and you do not see any output, I think the serial connection is broken.

The serial connection in the box is actually a ribbon cable onto the main board. Take off the lid and reseat the cable on the main board and see if that helps.

i cannot hyperterminal onto dreambox!!
i have tried another dreambox and can hyperterminal onto that fine.

so basically i cannot get nothing via the serial port of the one box, and i have tried exchanging ribbon connector with working box..

whats my next step to get this bugger to communicate
thanks

Hi !
I have the same problem with my mate dm500s and I posted yesterday a thread about that.
I think that the only way to fix it is to perform a jtag procedure.
I'll try it with mine maybe this Saturday.

Regards !
