    Default Connecting laptop to dreambox via crossover

    Hi this is my first post.

    After spending a day or two trying to setup my communication using the apparatus detailed in the title of this post. I stumbled across this guide _http://www.dreamboxtips.com/tag/ftp/ written by your site. I followed it blindly and to my delight i had communication with my dbox I was able to put box ip address in web add bar and communicate via ftp.I loaded cccam 2.08 and installed it after that I turned off my computer and went to bed then today i try to connect no good have tried rebooting everything checked all ip address are the same as yesterday when i could connect. Could it be to do with the cccam i installed i have since deleted it and still nothing any help greatly appreciated.:

    Try disabling all other network adapters except the one you're using for the dreambox.

    Double, triple check the ip addresses, don't assume any parts of them are correct.

    If still no luck, do a factory reset on the dreambox (Menu > Setup > Expert Setup > Factory Reset). Setup the ip addresses again and try to connect.

    Ok reflashed box tried to connect to box with flash ftp first time nothing then it worked. im happy its working but i dont know if it was something to do with my install of CCcam im not sure i did that correctly, is it a faulty connection in the box, is it my crossover cable or is it something to do with the compatability of dbox 600 gemini 4.3 and cccam 2.08 that caused this prob just hope its not a hardware issue with box

    I'm using pretty much the same setup and I've never had a network connectivity problem.

    Static IPs?

    PC(192.168.0.1)-->Dreambox(192.168.0.2) or something similar?

    If you've set things up using DHCP the IP addresses are never guaranteed to stay the same.

    im using static ip not dhcp

    Ok i have had same prob again i.e. not being able to communicate and I had to reflash again.Working again I had to think to myself what did I do in between it working and not working and the only thing I did was to flick around with the camd setup so it must be something to do with that that is stopping it from communicating. I will have to figure out how to setup camd properly can anybody shine any light on this and know how camd setting would stop communication????????What is the correct way to setup camd and CCcam? Cheers

    I know this might be a square brick in a round hole kind of solution, but one non-the-less that would work for you.

    Setup a dhcp server on the network somewhere, and assign a static IP based on the dreamboxes MAC address. Set the dreambox to dhcp and you'll have the same IP everytime on the dreambox. Not a very elegant solution, but it would work.

    That just seems awfully strange. The softcam is just a process running on the Dreambox, it's not something that fiddles with network settings or does invasive things to the hardware. I certainly believe you when you say you haven't done anything other than adjust softcam settings but the cam modifying network settings or otherwise disrupting network connectivity on the Dreambox seems a bit far fetched.

    I have just realised that it is when I ftp anything to the box the ftp program says ok complete then I rebbot box and when i try to connect it says error with network i then have tried everything to communicate with it. checked all ips rebooted windows ,box everything. The only way I will be able to get the communication working is to reflash this has happened three times now. Do you think its the box should I have it returned????

    I would. Put the original image it came with back on the box. The first thing they will usually fob you off with is your image is the problem.
