dead dm500?

Hi,

i'm trying to help a friend flash a dm500c... i know a bit about dboxes but completely new to dreamboxes. The box in question came from dvbseller and we tried to flash the digital kaos image on it. We ftp'd it acorss and used the remote to flash it thru the menus. it seemed to flash ok, but now is stuck in a constant reboot cycle.

doing a few searches they all suggest using dreamup, which after lots of tries and various versions doesnt work, just says "connection prepaired now switch on the dreambox" and after switching it on it doesnt do anything.

what else can we try?

you are using a null modem cable ?

also you could try a different version of dreamup.

yeah got the null modem connected to com1...

and tried version 1.3.3.2 and two different 1.2.xx versions and still no luck

Yip sounds like you're not using a null modem cable. It could be a serial cable or an rs232 cable, they look the same but have different pin configurations and will not work with dreamup.

can you try different settings in dreamup, the com ports, try the other options.

sounds strange not picking up the dreambox ? does dreambox led light up ?

and chech plugs both ends secure and pushed right in.

untick the use network box as well

it was just that!! tried another cable and were up and running

yep, all sorted... quick question, does anyone know how to import bouquets from a dbox? i found a program called d2d (or dbox2dreambox) and that says it converts the xml files, but i'm stuck after that... Never used enigma before, where do i drop these two files?

Ok i flashed the dm500c using dreamup and im only getting free to air channels. Am i missisg something else? Do i need to flash something like keys to the box? Any help much appreciated

yes you would need keys to illegally obtain payed tv.

also a long press of the info button would help
