Also, I have just moved into a new flat (renting), and there is a cable wire in the bedroom as well as the living room. They both appear to go outside the flat, so could I pull the signal through to 2 separate boxes? One in the bedroom and one in the living room? Thanks again!

If both cables are supplied by VM and a signal is present then that should be possible.

Got any mates witha box that could test your theory?

I suspect that the previous tenants had a feed in the living room for the telly and the feed in the bedroom was for broadband (guess). As these are both one and the same yes if you have two boxes and connect one to each feed you have two seperate or at least individual connections

Not quite true I had the tv package but cancelled after about 3 years, a year later I got a dreambox and connected it up and it all worked perfect. At that time you could not have broadband without the tv package. I applied for BT broadband but they said there had to be approx 50 odd people in your area before they would do it. After waiting and waiting for BT suddenly N*L started broadband without the tv package or phone line so I went for that. The only reason you need broadband is to keep your feed into the house live as they may disconnect it to feed someone else, also it at least gives N*L or V*r*in some sort of income look at what happened to ondigital

err, because I thought I'd get banned pretty quick.

Ok, so here goes, I'd like to know how to decode virgin channels. If I buy a dreambox 500c, do I need to buy any additional hardware? Cards, card readers and programmers?

OR is it simply a matter of downloading software of the web to crack virgin encryption?

I've had a look, but the only idiots guide I could find ois around 3+ yrs old and there's a minefield of information, weeding out the relevant stuff is tough.

get a dreambox 500c mate, its all done through software you wont need anything other than the dreambox, a null modem cable to flash it with and a router or crossover ethernet cable.
theres guides in the download section
