hi guys , i,ve used dreamup many times but every now and again it wont work with the 600. i was useing a desktop with win98 no probs but my hard drive has failed so now i have the laptop with vista and a usb comport adaptor. dreamup wont find box.can anyone give me a rundown on how to flash a 600 another way?many thanks .

Make sure you have a reasonable way to pick up the Dreambox via DHCP once you've nuked the image
Have an NFI image to flash
Have a machine to connect to the Dreambox web interface with that can see the Dreambox over the network (this is where you'll flash from)



have you tried this? what telenet prog did you use? i can ftp to the box and can see all the dirs but where do i put the code?

Telnet is a programme
in xp just do start>run>telnet 192.168.*.*

if vista you need to install it first in add windows components in add remove programmes

it will already be there,,, if in vista you can 'add windows components' no need to download,,,

but if you really want you can get 'Putty' from net f

I had same problem, had to get pcmcia card to serial to enable use of dream up, usb to serial would not work.

Just make sure if you go this route that the pcmcia does work with vista as many on a well known auction site are not vista compatable.

The other thing you can do is install barry allen via ftp (cute 8.1 for vista) then you can ftp any image to harddrive) install and run.

I have 4 images installed and can boot from any one of them. (only possible 600 with hard drive)

satman i now have putty but cant make head nor tails of it .

To be honest with you m8 you are probably better off leaving such things as Barry Allens alone until you have fully mastered your DM600.

i see what you mean . i got the putty downloaded but i,m afraid to do as you said earlier untill i know what command to put in to flash new image.

I always use telent but if you have windows vista than follow satmans advice . i.e START > control panel > ADD remove programs > windows component > telnet.

The following commands will kill your boot loader

mount -o remount,rw /boot
rm -f /boot/*
reboot

After this you start your browser and type in the ip address of your dreambbox.

Select to flash your dreambox and than point to your .nfi image file.

ok i killed the box and now red light flashing. brouser tells me it cant access the folder.

Pull the power out of your box and than type in the ip address of your dreambox into your browser.

windows cannot access this folder.make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access this folder

Whatever ip address you used to telnet into your box is the ip address you need to use in your browser.
