Default Good Soldering Iron

I need to Jtag a Sagem ITD4210 so I'm making a Jtag cable.
Can anyone recommend a good soldering iron ?
I've bought a few cheap ones in Maplin in the past but they have all been crap and lose their heat after a few uses.
I might be removing some Tsops down the line so one that could do them would be handy.

We use Weller ones in work and in plenty of factories. I seen lads leaving them on over the weekend and they are still fine.

Pace also are good.

If you are thinking of doing SMT stuff then ebay for pace and weller should get you some reasonable stuff, worldwide as its a lot cheaper in the US even with shipping.

Whatever you do DONT send a woman to B+Q for "a good" soldering iron... I did and she came back with something(22.99) that looked pretty decent but when opened it had a NIB on it the size of my damn fingertip

Yes I was to lazy to bring it back... it should come in handy if Im soldering blobs on Jet engines or something

If you only need one for frequet use LIDL have them for about 2.99.. thats the one I have not to bad
