Default How to connect...

I have been used to the Pace boxes where it was advised that you should split the virgin signal and have one feed into the normal virgin box and one to your own box. Something about Virgin knowing if your box is not connected to the network and spotting suspicious behavior...etc.

How does the dreamboxes connect? Are they fed straight from the virgin feed? Is it also advised to have your original box connected too? (Sorry bit of a noobs question....but just getting into the scene)

Im in ireland, but am moving to the north east of england soon,

the area that im going to be in its only possible to get virgin really,

so ill be interested to hear what people have to say about this,

just from my experience, i was always under the impression that these boxes were "one way" in that they can only recieve info and not send it.

I know that they are one-way but what Im really asking is should the original box still be connected while you are using the dreambox. As...virgin may think there is something fishy if they get no response from your legitamte box for months on end.

You can connect via splitter and have both boxes running or plug in a direct feed if you wish. its down to choice you do not have to have both rigged up but some say its "best" to do so. I have never bothered to have both running. never required it.

I'm in the North East and they work fine from the virgin feed. They connect the same way as the Pace box with the cable straight into the box, either direct or using a splitter.

I pay for the broadband and use a splitter to the dreambox.

The box cannot 'talkback' only receive info.

So you only pay for broadband and no tv subscription? I was under the impression that you had to get a minimum tv package before you would get the channels - if this is the case I will amend my subscription to only get the broadband also. Please confirm - anybody else do this too?
