This topic was on another forum that has gone now but with the files you were able to get the dreambox to read a mosc card have lost the files and have been messing about with ones i download but not working would anyone on here have them set to run of course with out a boxkey in it

Hi, I found this thread (even though a very old one) as I've been experimenting with getting my virgin card working with a 500c. Neutrino is usually my area but I flashed the nabilo darknight 2 image and installed Mgcamd+NewCS (various versions) and couldn't get any encrypted channels to appear.

The example I was using is living tv as although I get this as part of my virgin package, its not FTA. It doesn't look that hard to do but i'm confused. I even found a quick tutorial on how to setup both the newcs.xml and the newcamd.list files but they were already ok.

Any help/pointers appreciated.

i know a couple of people that tryed it with new/cs and it would not work they said it was hit and miss with n1 not sure why as i was getting it to read ok in newcs ok but would not open the chans found it strange best bet is to use newcamd cardserver this work no probs

as 2tone said u will have to use newcamd cardserver
make sure its complete and that u have the config file too
if its a mosc u will have to edit the config file with ur bk
i think the darkstar2 gave me some probs wit diff versions of
newcamd, so i find a gemini img easiest to do this wit

cheers guys will give it a go again tomorrow if I get a chance. I thought this would be pretty straightforward as I've found everything else with the dreambox/dbox etc in the past.

I also tried the DK1.1 image to see but i guess the main thing I was missing was the box key. Is that something just for newcamd or do you need that 'in theory' for the other cams as well?

Also I have no idea about the mosc card as I've never needed to look at any of this stuff in the past. I'll need to do a search tomorrow to find out about box key and the mosc card etc. Would def appreciate any pointers but don't worry if its not a quick reply as I'll do some searching tomorrow to see if I can get this experiment working

ok ur gonna need an ex subbed rom 10 or 11 card and get it unlocked so u can write a new image for ur area to it...thats the hard part,
if u can ftp to ur box the rest is easy give a shout back if u need any help

could some one that has this running at the min give this a try with a fun tit2 or opus card as im sure i seen a post some were and the guy said he was using one of these cards never got round to doing it my self and i dont have a dreambox were i can use newcamd on would be good to know

2tone, tried this wit a fun4 and atmega and could only clear channels for sometimes a few secs longest it lasted was bout 30 secs, despdan also had this prob
i was thinkin bout this and wud it be sometin in the config file as we have to tell newcamd to read nag1 cards, maybe somethin else in there to edit ?

this is from the config file and suggests we cant use a fun
btw doesnt the dreambox cardreader look for an atr ??? if so we def cant

You could be right m8 but it dose work for a min or so also it would be good to know if a tit2 or opus works as they work different from an atmega and funcard we can even write the rom image to them with nagra edit also can you tell me if it clears the chan when you put the card in just in case newcamd is holding the keys as i know it dose this when you change cam and if the cam is not set up right it will give you black screen after a while

no it wont clear like the n1 card wen u insert it, u have to restart cam....ok im gonna order a tit2 or opus and have a go as im thinkin the problem is card not authorising properly cos no atr on a fun card
