problems flashing with dreamup

just got my box a dm 500 c today and following your guide Guide: Flashing a Dreambox with Dreamup but im not getting very far ,ive Disconnect all cables from your dreambox, including the power
Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and to your PC
Load Dreamup.exe
Click Connect and you will see a message connection prepared now switch on dream box so i conect power but nothing happens ie it dosnt say box attached and readt it just says connection prepared now switch on dream box please help its not a very good start perhaps i need a super idiots guide

Like a few posts above your own, you probably have a serial cable and not a null modem cable.

Make sure that the 'use network' box is UNCHECKED.

There's no other settings, if it doesn't work, it's the box that's faulty or the cable is wrong.

sorry to be a pain ive now managed to get the dream box to attach to dream up and select the dw image and it starts to upload but after about 30 or 40 seconds , i get an error saying aborted please help what am i doing wrong? ill attach a print screen of error im definate using a null modem cable ,and there was me thinking this was going to be easy

I can't read the error.

Click on the 'flash erase' option and it will erase the flash, do this TWICE!

Then download the original firmware from the dream multimedia website...

Flash that image then flash the DW image.

hello again
sorry to keep posting ,but i tend to start panicing when things not going right ,ive managed to flash now with the dw image ,it must have been something wrong with my pci com port cause ive now used my usb converter and the null modem cable and it flashed dw image fine ive powered up now what do i need ive tried to scan for chanels but not sure which cable provider to choose for vm uk (south east) also do i now need to do the au first?

Yes you will need to add the AU files, these aren't included in the Dw image.

You can put your postcode in here and it will tell you what area you're in.

If you're not sure, use the Bruteforce scan option on the dreambox.

so far so good ive flash erased twice ,then flash dream multimedia origanal then im gonna flash the dw image and i think ill leave it tonight as im tired ,will carry on tomorrow many thanks for your help so far (im sure ill be in touch tomorrow )

i had similiar error while using usb to serial adaptor so if you are using usb to serail adaptor you better be carefull becasue you might fook the bootloader and will need a jtag. it happened with me and i had to take the box to a tech to flash the chip .

hi again
flashed the dw image fine scanned for chanels and they are all there but some the screen is just black am i right in saying that when i add the au ill then be able to view all of them ok? i tried quickly last night but when i connect my dreambox to router and start flash fxp it dosnt find the dreambox for some reason,im following the guide entering the ip of dreambox but still it dosnt find it

Remember to enter the router ip address in the 'default gateway' section of the network page on the dreambox.

There's a verison of the Dw v2 image in the downloads which has the AU fix included. If you're happy with simply flashing and not so sure about the FTP side, you might be better flashing this. Then all you need to do is scan.

sorted ive used flash fxp ok i was entering wrong port ,added the au file now ,only couple more things when i got in for lunch ive plugged dreambox in and sometimes the screen was flashing like a loose socket ,i fiddle with scart etc and stops for a bit then seems to start for no reason and its same scart im using for my samsung box at moment any ideas? also i read in the how to flash fxp that you need to turn au on how is that done ?

turn the box of at the plug and send the firmware again and after a few seconds power the box up

If you've got the AU included in the image then you don't need to turn it on.

Just scan for channels and go to a premium channel and it will AU.
