| Second Dreambox & DVR Any suggestions ? Hi all,
Wanted some tips please. I'm thinking of getting a second dream box and DVR for the home.
I currently have the 500C (DK v1.1 image) networked and working fine. I need to be able to:
1) record programmes similar to Sky+ on the new box and ideally (but not essential) watch other programmes at the same time. I also wish to view the recordings from the existing 500C box.
2) I want the option to record to HDD or external DVR (can anybody recommend a good recorder ?).
3) Lastly, I'm also thinking long term and wonder if it's worth keeping my Sat Dish and Sat cabling in case I decide to play around within this area. Get a separate box for Sat, any suggestions on a box that would be good for both Cable and Sat ?
So, in summary (apologies for waffling...had a few too many single malts ) Can anybody suggest a good model and configuration that would satisfy my requirements above ?

| if you were to go for the dreambox 7025 you can put 2 cable tuners or 1 sat and 1 cable as the tuners are plug and play, plus you can fit a hard drive so you can pause tv record 1 channel and watch another. You will be able to share the hard drive on your pc that you record on now with your 500c

| Try looking on DVBMonkey.com - cable & satellite at great prices (Powered by CubeCart), thats where I got my Dreambox 500c from....
They have quite alot of info on there about their box's including sky and I'm sure there is a box there that decodes them both and has a hdd, then all you'd have to do is connect a dvd recorder to that one box and network the rest. Can I ask where do you get your keys from please........mines gone AWOL and i don't know where to go? |

| Cheers, will look into this a bit further but would appreciate any more configuration ideas. Is it worth considering the DM800 ?

| I would suggest using a DM600c with an internal hard drive added. |

| Thankyou all for the info and advice.
Like the looks of the DM8000...but phew......!!! way out of my price range. I think for now I might go for the 600C. I'll wait and learn more about the Sat scene before investing in a Twin tuner receiver PVR.
Cheers all.
p.s I forgot to mention the Mrs said no more toys for the boys...LOL. |
