hi, I'm new and a little confused. Am I right to say that Dreambox xxxx and DM500c/DM800xx are different sets? The Dreambox looks like a clone of the SH boxes.. but the DM boxes are smaller and does not come with ethernet ports..

I would love to get my hands on a box that can decode the HD channels, record shows and hopefully can surf net on the box.
Can advise wat box can do the above and the price?

Hi all

This is my first ever post on kaos

I purchased a Dreambox 500S from the middle east a year ago. It was already "programmed" to receive pretty much every channel you can think of that can be received from arabsat and hotbird. It already had bouquets...etc.

The guy I bought it from said that the subscribtion had to be renewed once a year for a sum of £££.

Recently, the channels that I used to be able to watch no longer come up. Not that the receiver doesn't recognise the channel but the access has been removed/denied. I'm now in the UK, miles away from the middle east, and would like to get it back to how it was.

The fact that I paid for this means that I'm a complete newbie and have no idea where to start. Nevertheless, I'm willing to learn.

Where should I start?

Hello Albert and all else tuned in,

Would appreciate if you can help as this is my second attempt of get this 800 HD box working. I tried 3 months ago and gave up after buying one item after another - from Null modem then finding out my pc or laptop does not have a serial port, so i lug everything to the office where the pc has a serial port but could get it working as i cud get the nfi on the pc. So i go get a parallel to serial port. That did not work either. So i bought a cross cable but did not try it out of frustration and never got round to doing until now.

Please help !

As far as I can tell - all is working except that when is select the service or channel - all i get is "Please Wait" When I press "OK" it shows a bunch of info at the bottom part of the screen - signal strength etc etc.

When I go Blue - Panel relaod and restart camd - it says "new camd started" Name: " common Interface.

Think I need to start the "mgcamd1.30c" and how do i go about getting the mgcamd1.30c transferred. Do I also need to flash the .nfi that DarkKennedy mentioned.

I have sim201e-76-gp5.00-OE1.6-dm800-20100429.nfi. Is that ok or do i still need to flash?

May I have them both and the instructions to transfer to the Dm800 and also the keys and the rom.

feel i might be closer this time. tx in advance.

you do not need to reflash, as you have working image but without mgcamd.
what you need to do is download mgcamd from blue panel through internet and select mgcamd and then reboot.
