BL# 72, #75, 76, 76A & 76C are all on sim2.01.

During bootup of the box, the led screen should show what is your bootloader#.

It is best that you use image for the same BL.

My understanding is if you have an #75, you are able to upgrade to #76.

Is it important that when we buy the Dreambox, we should always opt for the latest bootloader e.g. go for BL76 instead of BL72? Just wonder will the image file also carried the BL software that can update any version of the BL inside the existing STB?

SS76C image file can be flash into box that are running SIM2.01 SS72 or higher.

Dun think SSL#72 can go beyond #72 b'cos it is running on sim1.00.

I could be wrong on this... But I did try to flash both image for #75 & SSL#75 onto a #72 box & it dun work.

Lucky that I have opt for a DM800HD-C set installed with BL#76 instead of BL #72 at a small cost. Else, I may have problem flashing the latest image file into my new set which is on the way.

is there a way to update the BL on our own? what if in the future the image is based on say BL #80 etc? does that mean we won't be able to flash the newer image?

Sorry but yours is a null modem (usb to rs232 cable)? or a serial to serial null modem? Just want to confirm. which shop in SLT? thanks

Don't use USB to Serial, that type of cable emulates a serial connection as USB data speeds are too fast to keep up.

Buy and use a traditional female to female serial cable or it probably won't work.

Hello I have flashed the image from post #86 to my dreambox 500c but the channels are showing black.

can someone Pm me the new keys please?
(I know how to ftp them)

Do I also need a sharing card to be able to view the channels?

I have been using usb-serial since day 1 & i have no problem flashing or backup img so wats the problem.

As all know laptop or netbook dun come with serial port now. Even desktop are facing this port out but at peast keep it optional & expandable.

I see, just I had a USB-to-Serial cable and it had a load of problems reading my dreambox due to the emulation techniques it takes, thankfully I have my old PC with a com port to flash my box

Still need those keys tho to the ftp.. :/

Pls help me. I press 'master reset' from the menu accidently. Now when i start all i see is some chinese message. I need the settings for MHZ, MBaud & QAM256 settings to start the scan for channels. What values should i use for these to see in starhub.

Based on what you have just said, you must be using DM900C-II as only this box will change language from english to chinese when master reset.

Solution is somewhere around, please kindly read thru.

No I am using 500C. I manage to get back to english menu after a long search. Did a manual and tp range scan from 100 to 999 mhz. After that i can only see free channels. All other channels not able to see, but i can see the channel names and the program name. But no video or audio. What will i do now?
