the casing is totally white in colour, i believe its a blackbox 888 clone. no brands stated. any1 have brought this set?

It shows the gemini project in the menu information page. cant see the exact firmware version number..

do i have the gemini time bomb effect, coz my remote not working and green led lights on? or is it a case of bad adapter?

If u have another set that is good my advise is to backup keys & rom files var/keys & var/scce (sian inform members on this) even i do not know if your set is blackbox worst if it is using images that is password lock, if not than u're lucky or u can backup the whole images than flash the one that is faulty with the backup images.
Open your box cover see if the rs232 port wire is not cut by your supplier if not than u can proceed with the flashing using dreamup & please read the stickies on how to flash box using dreamup or a few pages back
Next time get 500C not clone of the clone 500C like what u have now & for info Gemini is very dangerous if time bomb is not removed unless u can do telnet there is a way to know if timebomb is tick tock tick tock

I got a strong feeling, that they will only do something at the critical period for us to scramble. And when noobs like us starts to panic without a solution, most will LL subscribe to their package at the last minute in order to watch the semis or maybe even finals.

2) if freq/chn changed : do a rescan or manual scan.
It very minor hassle lah.

Thats all they can do, so fear not.

The newbies will get problems but not all the novice.

Only if emm changed and keys dont AU. Goto var>key>keylist.txt FTP to desktop and edit to new keys then FTP back. that all.

What u can practice now is FTP the keylist.txt to deasktop, edit all keys to 00000000..00, then FTP back to DB, u find the box at encrypt chn blank for some time then come on. You view the keylist again, u see time and date and new keys AU in. so if dont AU with new emm, just manually edit this keylist using notepad. Until new emm is posted.

Yes, can do it via remote but too tedious, since FTP is popularly used, I give FTP solution. Much faster. Some box on screen typo may not show, need to explain how to add on screen keyboard, may be troublesome. That Y i just post FTP methods. You may use any method as long as it edit the keylist.

There is a new model

Looks exactly like my S10 satellite reciever i guess the firmware is also the same, not much u can do unlike the 800 series still waiting for the tuner only to be in the market so i can just swap from satellite to cable tuner.
For picture quality i still prefer 800HD, S10 to me is more easy to use than 800 once u know the step on setting up the box should be no problem all backup is dump method via usb even editting of channel list
